You need to give up way more than that for Meier
Portillo doesn’t hold value for SJ
Mitts a little

Thanks
We’re still a really young team- and thus, quite inconsistent
Adding a guy like Meier could really help stabilize our 2nd line so we could get consistent scoring from it
Would be a big help imo

Idk that we’ll win a bidding war for Meier,
but we’ve got the pieces if we want to

I think you are close. I do agree portillo doesn't have much value, maybe swap him for a 2nd? That's two mid firsts, a second, and mittelstadt, who is gonna have a look at 50 points this year. And mittelstadt shouldn't break the bank either. That's a decent offer, if jersey wants to beat it, have at it. Not sure how you removed olofsson, I'm assuming for picks, might be more difficult than that. I really like olofsson, but there's only so many teams that are shopping for a 5 million dollar shooter, and chances are they don't have 5 million in cap space, so they are gonna wanna give us cap back with the pick. But yes, it looks like there should be room. If I've gotta throw somebody else over- jokiharju and upl are both over 3 million. Wanna make an omelet...

Buffalo is my favorite trade partner for Timo. Absolutely have the pieces, the most imo. I'd probably do this deal if Savoie or Kulich swapped with Ostlund.

I left out Olofsson simply bc i think he’s a guy who might not be here long term- regardless of what we might be able to get for him in a trade
He could be a piece in a Meier trade, he could even leave as a UFA
I didn’t really care to address it, bc the point i was trying to show was that we could fit Meier moving forward IF we wanted to

As far as Jokiharju & UPL go,
I also showed how we would have Cap Room to upgrade from those 2 if we wanted

Things get a bit tight, depending on how many other players we’d wanna bring in, but we could do it

Idk if our GM would be willing,
but i suppose it’s possible

Ok i'll give it to you he fits. But that bottom 6 is looking a little rough.
I still think its a bad idea and you're probably not making any serious cup runs with that bottom 6.
buuutttt you've got space and who knows, its a talented group. With skinners contract up in 3 years from this you can probably keep this team together with some bridge deals. I have to say YOUR RIGHT!

As far as the bottom6 goes, i just replaced them with talent we already have- or have coming
There’s room for a cheap Vet addition or 2 that could help stabilize all that talent

As far as making a Cup run goes….
If we don’t get Meier (or another big name) then we’re depending on the kids even more- & it’s tough to see us going after a Cup anytime soon that way either

Plus, if we don’t bring in someone that forces out Olofsson, then we’re a lot more likely to just extend him
And while I’m not the Olofsson hater that many here are,
idk that he could be a key component to a Cup Winner either

At the end of the day,
adding a guy like Meier certainly tightens the strings a bit
Maybe it’s premature to make a move like this & we should wait another year or 2 or 3….
BUT
if we wanted to- and yes, i realize that’s a big “if”
We could make it work with the Cap, & i do think he’d be a great player for us
