There is literally nothing in that first trade that would get anyone to entertain the idea of moving marner.

For some reason I would trade out Matthews before Marner. While he’s the franchise player Toronto has needed, I don’t think he will sign long term after next year, or he’ll be so greedy that it will bleed out Toronto. You would get more also from any team. And from his playoff hockey, I’m not a fan of his since he doesn’t play for the win, Marner and Tavares do play to get a win, they leave it all on the ice. Matthews… I don’t see him doing that…

I hope he’ll do it some day, maybe this year.. but I haven’t seen him in the past so I’m just basing my opinions on his past play.

You’d get a solid Dman, a great center and more for him.
