Gurianov has negative value or a very low one
Depends on what he wants to re-sign.
If he's holding out for him QO then its a no go at 3.48m according to Capfriendly.
But if he's looking to rebound on a deep team with similar skills and depth to the Contender he was drafted by ,then he'll take less.
More upside in signing a 2m dollar 1 year deal for all sides.
Next contract after this he's a UFA at 27 anyways so term shouldnt be surprising
Taking less for higher upside to rebound your value before getting your big contract
That makes sense when taking a 1m dollar haircut short term can get you a 1-2m bump long term.
I mean he could stay in MTL probably not get qualified depending on his play this year with us ,maybe he will.
But either way MTL isnt paying 3.48m to him unless its a 1 year deal with intent to flip him at the TDL.
That said it comes with risks as Pitlick MTL let his rights expire then signed him for less then his QO at 1m for 2 years .
It kinda backfired on him this year but our wingers were overburdened. Right now and next year they'll be bare making his call to take less for term a smart one.
A lot of Variables with Guirianov and clearly DAL didnt feel teh former 2015 12th OA pick was worth the investment anymore with his salary climbing past 2m.
Then again maybe he's a perfect fit in MTL and like Kotkanemi if CAR signs for much less then required after signing him to a 6m dollar offer sheet the QO woulda been steep.
But instead he took less to play on a team thats stacked with solid players and a excellent core signed with term where he's considered one of the Core Pieces.(atleast contract wise )
