Trying to be realistic

Description
Please read my descriptions under each trade.

The trade market has been weird, the Nino deal makes everyone cheaper but then TB gave 50% of their draft picks over the next 3 years + a prospect for an undrafted bottom six winger... so i'm not sure what to expect anymore.

Ultimately i think the pens defense is fine, Dumolin has played much better hockey the last month, POJ has improved over the season and i am fine with Rutta on the third pair.

The bottom six needs the most work, feel like this makes a world of difference.

I feel like the CBJ and AZ trades are realistic, unsure on Domi, feel like i've seen a lot of different options for what his value would be, obviously McGinn is a dump but he would need to go in this scenario, if it costs an additional pick (say a 3rd) i'd do it.
Trades
1.
CBJ
  1. Blueger, Teddy
  2. Hållander, Filip
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
  4. 2024 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
From what i've read if the Jackets are to move Roslovic they'd want something along the lines of 2nd and 3rd or 4th, or a B-tier prospect + mid-round pick. Pens would need to clear some cap to make this work which is why i'm adding 2nd and 3rd + prospect to take Blueger (UFA).
2.
ARI
  1. 2023 5th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
UFA and having a good season, low cap hit and perfect 4C
3.
PIT
  1. Domi, Max ($1,000,000 retained)
CHI
  1. Légaré, Nathan
  2. McGinn, Brock
  3. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
This is very much a shot in the dark, paying to take term on McGinn but gotta try maybe.

I like those first two trades. Roslovic is someone I haven’t given much thought but he would be a nice fit at 3C. I always liked Bjugstad as well and would welcome him back. We should not trade our 2023 1st on any rental. I’ve also soured on Max Domi. I know Mario and Tie are close but if we wanted Max why didn’t we sign him in the summer?

Oh and good luck ever getting Sully to scratch Carter. If we don’t pay to dump him this summer he will be back to slowing down our bottom six next year. Sully will not bench a veteran, even if they were never part of our core of winners. It’s like we are playing Carter to recognize the fact that he was once good for other teams. It’s beyond dumb.

Domi with retention should be worth at least a 2nd. McGinn costs another 2nd to dump. 2 more years @ $2.7m is the exact term and cap hit Vancouver paid a 2nd for to move Dickinson to Hawks in October. Would the Hawks take a '23 1st in lieu of two 2nd's is the question. I think I would, but I'm not GM Davidson. Maybe swap Legare for a better prospect like Puustinen gets it done for sure.

yeah, i'm not wild about it, another option i suppose could be waiving mcginn, not doing the Domi trade and bring up puustinen

The issue is it doesn't matter how much we pay to dump Carter - he can just say no to the trade

First 2 trades are interesting. Dont want Domi tho, theres a reason hes been on 5 teams in 7 years. Plus hes a rental, not worth giving up assets for.

My only worry is that Sullivan won't adapt and is going to continue playing his 3rd line in heavy defensive zone starts - and this 3rd line is terrible defensively. If you're willing to give up this year's first I'd much rather go after a guy like Henrique in my opinion

Yep, which is why I think it’s going to be attach a 2nd and perhaps a prospect to Philly because it might be the one way out of this.

I really don't even see him waiving for Philly to be honest - no reason to at this stage of his career and Philly being bad. I wish though. I'd put the odds around the same as the lottery haha. Good teams don't want him and he doesn't want to go to bad teams.

Carter has a 35+ full NMC, you guys need to all realize he isn't going anywhere. He would specifically need to ask to move and the place he'd want to go would have to want him there. Can't waive him, can't buyout, can't trade or retire, the contract is there until it's over.

Best option is he can somehow (wink wink, nudge nude) be put on LTIR next year and remain there for the season.

The problem is the roster is what it is (which he said the other day). He can't completely gas the top two lines every game night in and night out or they'll get beat to a pulp/injured and i don't think he has the confidence in the 4th line to play elevated minutes.
