What’s even more yikes is that you aren’t even accounting for bonus overages.

I think frederic, swayman, and pastrnak will be a bit less, and that they led clifton walk. That should account for it.

I'll let EDM fans talk about the Broberg Grzelcyk trade. That've also got some pretty serious cap constraints where losing ~$3M in cap wouldn't be ideal.

Hawks aren't doing that trade for Mike Reilly. They've been pretty consistent that if you're looking for them to take on cap space...it'll cost a 2nd round pick. Dickinson, Zaitsev, TJohnson. I know the standard BOS saying is...BUT Reilly is better that his AHL position. Might be true...might not. BUT none of the others were in the AHL either.

I expect reilly to be pretty easy to move in the off-season.

They could buy him out pretty easily and kick the can down the road. The 2nd year of his buyout is only $1M.

He’s also just not a bad player.

I agree, he's a fine AHL player. The issue is the contract. BOS management went out and traded for a LD. They're telling us through action that eating that $1.8M cap hit was better than putting Rielly on NHL ice.

No no, he’s a fine NHL player. Problem is, fine doesn’t cut it in Boston. He had a real strong season last year, and I kind of doubt a 29 year old just forgot how to play hockey. Victim of team success.

It’s also not like they just went out and got some depth 8th d. They got freaking orlov.

Whatever dude, he's the only one actually in the AHL out of all the cap dumps I mentioned. Good luck!
