Description
First move here is Timmins through waivers. I know they have extended him and like the player, but they are running 8 dmen deep, and then there is the AHL. Any upgrade at this point will require someone on this roster to move (if you plan on signing Knies this year). I would rather keep someone like Kerfoot or ZAR, and I think the other dmen are better. So, Timmins. Never know, maybe he makes it through.

This move is based on just trading the pick for improvement this year. It's a in for a penny, in for a pound kind of thing at this point. Honestly I'm not the biggest Domi guy. I like the playmaking and like how he helps on a quick attack, but worry about his defense. I don't even know if he's worth a 1st. I would rather add more and go ask about Terry in Anaheim or someone with term, but I don't think he's available. So of what's left out there that improves your offence while fitting the cap structure (and keeping cap to sign Knies), I think Domi is the play.

So it's Domi at 50% retention (1.5 million) for a 1st and Abruzzese (a contract slot is needed). I have Arizona also retaining another 25%. I figure $750,000 prorated probably cost around a 5th. So it's Domi with a caphit of $750,000 for the Leafs.

The money left allows you room to work against the cap if their are injuries, and then it's eventually allocated for the Knies signing.

In the end, got Schenn back, got a McCabe on defense, might as well get a Domi. It was written. This is how we win.

Timmins would be claimed for sure.

Or instead of losing Timmins for nothing and wasting a 1st. Just don't get Domi he's a trash player. Now that Kane is gone, Domi may not get another point this year. He's just not good.

Yeah you are definitely right. It's just I think Gustafsson is better right now than Timmins, and he offers you the same kind of game. No chance they put Schenn on the wire obviously. I guess you could do ZAR, but I would rather have that option especially if I can run 8 dmen. So it's tough.

I more or less agree with you about him. I'm not his biggest fan, and based on how I have argued countless times about getting him on here, maybe I'm talking myself into him. But even as a guy that dislikes him, there's no question he does have some skill. He is unquestionably a good playmaker, and plays really well off the rush, which the Leafs could use more of. You mention the Kane thing- in all fairness if you watch those games, it's Domi setting him up. You see he has the vision. Playing LW on a line with a couple of guys that at this point are much better players than Kane and will score 35+ will be good.

And I guess when they are in the dzone close your eyes.

Domi is a floater. He tries to score points but doesn't do much else.
