This is more weird than bad.
Samsonov is the leafs starter at this point, and you're trading him for two seconds. So thats a little odd. Value may not be crazy off, but I suspect more a second and a third, as he has a unique history. But the trade makes no sense for either teams. Why are the Leafs trading our starter? Why is NYI a team with the likely vezina runner up trading significant assets for a back up?
And then the solution is sign NYI (of all teams) former back up, to way too many years, but at the same time less money than he'd want. He's 35, don't give him 4 years. But he has also quietly been a 1b goaltender and pretty solid at it for a few years so will want more per year. So again... odd
Then you significantly overpay for Garland. Garland is a solid player, but thats it. He's fine. He's a less defensive Kerfoot essentially. So again weird.
O'Rielly same as Varlamov. I'd love to sign him, but he's needing more per year than that. And I'd guess he gets less years
What the heck is that Dumba deal? The dude I believe has been healthy scratched this year. He peaked early and declined. That is just bad.
Matt Murray isn't permanently injured. So he's playing...
So, as I said, more weird than bad.
