Insanity

Created by: pensfan21
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 16, 2023
Published: Mar. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Carter still in lineup at 4C. Definition of insanity. No accountability in the lineup unless your a young player. Sully has to go imo. Hextall should have been gone a long time ago and is responsible for most of the issues the team has, but Sullivan is not without his blame. Desmith should be starting tonight. Petry Dumb group should be broken up, it's awful. And Carter should be on the bench.

As long as Hextall is running the ship Carter will play. Hextall pretty much forced Sully's hand to play McGinn Carter Kapanen (Hextall's vision for a 3rd line) until it tanked and he had to give away both wingers. It's not insanity, it's stupidity from the front office. Reports from Rossi and a few others showed that Sullivan had to basically beg Hextall to keep O'Connor up and tried for months to bring up some other guys, but Hextall refused.

I haven't heard those reports, but if true it's just another addition to the long list of reasons Hextall should be gone. I still don't think Sullivan is without his share of blame, no reason to have Carter out there taking D-zone face-offs constantly and to defend in critical moments of the game, but I also don't doubt Hextall has a lot to do with Carter being in the lineup. Same with the part about O'Connor. Crazy if this whole time Sullivan not playing young players is because of Hextall. He really is the worst GM in this league and I don't even think it's close. Completely incompetent at his job.

Oh Sully is not without his share of blame. The deployment of certain guys have directly resulted in losses this season. The dedication to the power play structure and unit has been a failure of the coaching staff too. BUT I will say the largest issue is by far roster construction and Hextall's forceful hand. Losing the mobility of Matheson/Marino last summer for the less mobile Petry/Rutta has taken it's toll. The bottom 6 speaks for itself. Hextall truly is one of the worst GM's of the last 20 years.

Your right. Our bottom 6 is a massive issue, which is talked about a lot. What is an equally or maybe bigger issue though is the D-zone coverage and lack of mobility on D. They cannot keep up with young or fast teams at all and can't really contribute to our transition game. Don't have an answer for our D zone coverage though and us leaving people wide open. Just makes no sense
