Leafs say no!. Brown has a NMC and certainly the Leafs can't/won't carry his oncoming cap forever. Three starters for Doughty? Not the best allocation of resources for a Leaf team still rebuilding. Leafs can wait two years for UFA Doughty and see if they want him or can sign him in the summer of 2019. Can't Doughty be traded to any other team besides the Leafs?

You leafs homers crack me up. Don't drink your own kool aid too much because your beloved trifecta hasn't won anything yet. When they have, then you can scoff at Doughty.

Sure Doughty has won, but let's not talk about the past. Doughty can't lead his star studded team into the playoffs now, what makes you think he could help the Leafs to greater heights if three NHL regulars are needed to just acquire him? No rebuilding team, Sabres, Jets, Canes would give up so much for Doughty. I would suggest the team that doesn't get Shattenkirk such as the Bruins or Rangers might have more interest in Doughty. But of course this would make for some creative trading instead of the blah, blah, blah, that the Leafs HAVE to trade their young potential stars for two years of Doughty.
Come on KingsGKG, try to trading some of the other 29 teams in the NHL.
clark and KingsGKG liked this.

you're missing my point Palhal. The Kings will ask for a ransom, if and when, they move him....to whatever team that is. Wether they get it remains to be seen. My point is when I hear someone say they would only trade a kid who's played 1 season in the NHL for Doughty straight up, and nothing else I chuckle. Even a versed hockey fan as yourself has to see that. Doughty is an elite Dman. One of a few in the NHL, in his prime, and though you may scoff at the past championships, they do matter. It's called experience. The fact the Kings have not made the playoffs has nothing to do with Doughty and a lot to do with other factors. I get the Leafs fans are very excited about their future, and they should be, but I guarantee they will need to make moves to fine tune the team at some point. That is all
I'm saying.
