24-25 Wings

Created by: AZWings
Team: 2024-25 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2023
Published: Mar. 20, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This consists of a bunch of bridge contracts for the RFAs to ultimately see who stays and who goes. +Suter and Acciari to hit the cap floor. No other major moves.

After a year in GR, Antti makes the big leagues (probably why Yzerman was ok trading Hronek). Ran a 2023 NHL Mock draft and came up with Ritchie at #10. I can deal with that. I have Wallinder as a scratch just to show he could make the roster.

Unless Seider falls off a cliff, he should be getting 8 years. I think Raymond is more of an undecided. If he explodes next year, he should get 7/8 years but if its another season like this one or doesn't have that huge breakout yet, I think he should be bridged. Probably 2 years would be fair. Unless of course you can get him to sign 8 years at a lower cap hit because he hasn't had his ppg season yet, which in that case would be a steal for the team

Yzerman will lock up Seider sooner rather than later. Seider probably gets around 8x9.0 mil and Raymond around 3x6.0 mil You'd be messing with fire giving Seider a bridge deal. If he explodes then you're looking at $10,000,000 per+ x 8 years to lock him up. I'm not as worried about Raymond as i am with Mo Seider.

I'd rather have Seider at 3x5 and then still sign him again at 8x9 or 8x10 before he becomes a UFA. I can certainly see going the Makar route but not what I did here. Similar with Raymond.

Or you're looking at $11-12M when he hits UFA at age 28. smile

No I gotchu. Just my take. I think it would be better in the long run to give him 8 right away. We can afford it right now, and that way there isn't as much cap uncertainty when we are in a window to compete and need to give him a big raise.

He's already 21 another season takes him to 22 and 8 years takes him to 30, Pretty sure after that we don't have to worry about him getting $11-12M at free agency.

Yep no worries. (Hey, a civilized conversation on ACGM!!! grin ) I can totally see that as well. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out next year especially.

No doubt. I'm excited to see what Stevie does in free agency. Or if he has something up his sleeve at the draft trade wise. I'm really interested on a few names in FA. Freddy Gaudreau, Gudas, Schenn, Raanta, among others. I think Freddy would be a great addition to the bottom 9. He plays Detroit hockey, and we have the room to give him a contract he may not be able to pass up. 4x4.5 4x5ish, something like that

Heck even Nick Lidstrom didn't start winning the Norris Trophy until his early 30's.

Sign Raanta and immediately put him on IR? No, I'll pass on him but Gaudreau (maybe at 3 years, not 4) could be next year's Sunny.
