Description
Here is my thinking. Dubois, Scheifele, Dillion, Hellebuyck all have 1 year after this year left. My hopes is we move them all in the off season so that we do not go into next year with them. While as a fan, I want to see them succeed. I would rather not watch them have a decent year and be a fringe playoff team. I have a feeling if that were the case. Chevy would hold these guys and then lose them for nothing. No idea of the trade value for any of these guys. Just players I would like to see in Jets uniforms. No one reads this anyways, so let the value bashing begin.

Would we all agree that every player I listed to trade is better than Andrew Copp? Because he got a 1st, 2nd and a prospect as a rental at the deadline and he is at best is a 2nd/3rd line player.

Honestly guys, I didn't research the history of Luke Hughes. That is on me, it could be any higher ranked prospect. I just looked at a young D-man and threw him in there. I think it starts with Schmid and a 1st though.

Fair enough. I have no argument with you there.

Good recall, what was different about the MAF trade was that he was now a backup, had lost his mojo, perceived as past his prime, and made 8 million. Different situation than Helly. In MAF defence he found his game again, but that was the reality at the time of that trade.

MAF was announced the Vezina winner in June of 2021.

MAF was traded for Mikael Hakkarainen on July 27, 2021.

He was not a backup, had not lost his mojo and was not perceived as past his prime. He had literally just won the Vezina.

Copp was on a cheap contract and got two 2nds and an older prospect lower down in Rangers depth chart with one 2nd became a 1st because the Rangers made the conference finals.

You're asking for 1sts plus either elite prospects or good, young NHLers or better NHLers. And the issue with half of these (Kings, Habs, DUcks) isn't necessarily value, its fit.

Vegas blew him out of town and chose Lehner instead. It was well documented throughout the year that they were going to move him once they acquired Lehner. Don't make this a value thing. This was the worst kept secret throughout the league that he was going to make cap space. He didn't get a big return because of his age and salary.[/quote]

I wasn't making it a value thing, I was correcting the record. I already said Hellebuyck is worth more, just that he's not L. Hughes plus a 1st more.

Yeah, i didn't really know who Luke Hughes is. So that was my bad putting him in there. Regardless of trades and value. I think they need to trade these guys in the off season instead of potentially doing good next year and losing them all in free agency.
