Dump Goodrow to Resign Kane

Created by: OldHabsFan61

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 25, 2023

Description
I don’t se a good option for NYR this offseason unless they get Goodrow out. A dump or a buyout is the only option. It’s a better team with Kane in it.

Still delusional. But I will give you credit for not including an idiotic Laffy trade proposal or offer sheet. That is some progress I suppose.

I have no idea why you want your team to be worse off all to save an overpaid 4th liner. That’s odd to say the least.

Because you have no idea what value Goodrow brings to the team. He is a big reason they are as good as they are. You're entitled to your opinion, I just think it's delusional.

Goodraw is a negative asset to the team. He is worse than a replacement level player and is overpaid

LOL. That is about as ignorant a statement as I have seen on this forum. But from a Nucks fan, understandable.

You seem awfully upset about me presenting facts. Tell me. What does Barclay Goodrow bring to the table? He doesn't produce, doesn't generate offense, is bad defensively. He doesn't block shots, he also doesn't hit that much. I'm struggling to see why you think so highly of him. Maybe its actually you who is ignorant.

No, it means you. You call me ignorant yet you have done NOTHING to backup your argument. At least put some effort into your trolling

No, I'm not a troll like you. No need to argue with pure ignorance.

Once again, going off topic. Not surprised. Do you plan on explaining why I am ignorant and why Goodrow is so valuable to his team?

There is no reason to discuss anything with someone that knows nothing about the topic. Go learn about hockey and come back, then maybe.

He's actually not. He's overpaid absolutely. But not by 3m, but by about 1m.
NHL teams will actually likely trade for him once the cap goes up, but even if the rangers wanted to get his contract off the books, he's a terrible easy buyout as his cap hit is miniscule once he's bought out and is a net benefit next year, and then as the cap rises its like 1.5m for 3 years.

So the rangers arent forced to move a pick to move goodrow, let alone a first rd pick.

It’s a free buyout until 2025 and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Drury look at it that way. However, it’s 6 seasons of cap hits after that. It’s a decent contract to buyout but giving away that Dallas first to move the whole contractor the long haul isn’t a lot to pay. It’s a late 1st, trey usually aren’t anything special. Would you give away Ryan Poehling to move that whole contract? That’s the kind of player you usually get in that range.

Goody over Kane going forward. You don't like Goody, you simply don't understand hockey. We would suck without him lol

I mean late firsts absolutely can be NHL players. K'andre Miller is a late first, Chytil is a late first.

This is also one of the best drafts in NHL history. Not giving up a late first in this draft.

Also its 6 years of cap hits of like 1.5 million, as the cap continues to climb, that will be absolutely nothing. If you lock the kids up, you have to time it so you lock miller and chytil now,
Then you bridge laf so that he gets paid as panarin's deal comes off, he gets that money if he's earned it.
Then you lock kakko up with the money coming free with the cap bump in 24.

You have miller locked up now,
You bridge Schneider so that he gets troubas money when that expires.

You now have a top 9 and a top 4 locked for years, and only need to bring in 4th liners and 3LD on the cheap. And as the cap rises you get to acquire more talent.

You also have developing kids who will come in and earn spots and give the team even more flexibility.

with the cap expected to go up significantly in 2 years, his one year of 3.6m won't be an issue in year 4 and the rest it's all 1.259 or less. Buying him out actually gives them an additional 200k in cap space next year so there is no reason to give up a pick with him. I can see him getting a "future considerations" or a no return deal (pacioretty) 100% but it won't actually cost them to get rid of him. He still brings enough leadership, experience, grit, PK ability for a team to take him on. Worst case scenario, NYR retain 1m, but they'll get something (3rd or 4th rounder) in return then.
