The Current Lines Are Intriguing

Description
Mittelstadt is best when he has good shooters with him. I know every center is, but those small area passes he makes are his unique skill and compliments Skinner and Tuch well. I also feel like Tuch and Thompson score in similar ways so as good as they are together, maybe keeping them apart could make us better in the long run. Peterka and Quinn are going to be really good next year, and I feel like Krebs passing ability will compliment them well. And we have the pieces currently for a 4th line and good depth forward. The Savoie situation is a bummer though. I'd really like to see him in Rochester next season.

Interesting line Combos, don't think I would have Kulich on the 4th line.

True, but Granato plays all four lines. They’d still get good run and can be shielded a bit. Plus, I want Savoie and Kulich practicing together.

I don't know why Olofson to NSH became the new Kerfoot to NSH, but I'm over it.

Really poor power play. Olofsson can help that. I think they’ll get a trade partner somewhere with retained salary. And it’s a low 3rd. Relax.

@ashleyschaeffer excellent obsevation.
There was a 20 game stretch from October 25 to December that Casey was just deplorable.
Over those 20 games he had just 4 goals, 8 pts and was -16.
While the last 7 games have been remarkable scoring 2 goals, setting up an additional 9 with a +6 rating, removing those 20 games leaving 48 games with 8 goals, 45 pts and +6.
Those are first line stats in this league scoring nearly a pt/gm.
Jeff-Casey-Alex is certainly humming while the Tage-Dylan-Jordan line is doing just fine as well.
BTW over his last 2 games Casey has won 15 of his 28 FO and over his last 10 games he has 10 take aways while giving up the puck only 5 times, giving him 2.0 tk/gv ratio the best on the team.
Who would have thought that he would have more pts this year than his previous 3 years combined?
Do you think we can finally remove the BUST LABEL FROM HIS NAME?
It will be an interesting off season if Savoie and Kulich have a huge training camp.
Olofsson may have played his last game as a Sabre, but there may be many other changes as well.

I certainly hope Ryan Johnson signs with the Sabres.

Interesting line Combos, don't think I would have Kulich on the 4th line. Probably not, but this is just for fun. Jost has been centering Quinn and Peterky over the last 3 games also.

EDIT: IMO Carolina may be a good final resting spot for Olofsson.
Poor PP and could use another scoring winger.

He needed time. Going back to WJC, when he had a Tkachuk brother he was the MVP of the tournament. He can get the puck to finishers in good spots. And the strength in his hands has improved. He wins draws, creates turnovers, and wins puck battles way more than he ever has. Once the kids are ready and we go Thompson-Cozens-Mittelstadt-Krebs down the middle we’re in serious business.

He's an okayish sniper who's a detriment on the ice at everything else. If Tolvanen couldn't get out of the doghouse in NSH, Olofsson would be a guaranteed perma-scratch there. I'd rather use the roster spot on one of the kids.

Yes Jost has, unfortunately Jost might not even get qualified.

Could turn into a deadly combo. Think it depends on were the Sabres see Savoie. Really hope he can grab the 3C slot, but do they start him on the Wing. They still have Nadeau coming to who plays C and LW. But Nadeau Krebs Rousek could make for a really fun 4th line. Maybe Kulich Savoie Mitts as your 3rd line and all 3 can actually flip to C when need be.

Not even just poor PP, but poor scoring, 28th in the league. It's also a place he would like to go to since his best friend Asplund is there.

However, while the numbers say that, one thing to remember is that Nashville has battled a lot of key injuries this year. Probably not that bad if they have a healthier unit, but I do believe Olafsson makes them better. I have no doubt it's a fit with retention

I think Kulich stays down one more year, and I don't think Rousek comes up. I think Rousek will eventually be trade bait

The problem there is the team needs more experience into the lineup in the bottom six, and more guys who are good two-way and defensive forwards. I don't think both Okposo and Girgensons are gone. I think they will keep one, both of those guys are two of our best defensive forwards, and without them and the addition to two rookies into the bottom six, the team would arguably allow even more goals next season.

I don't think they want Jost as the fourth line center, I think he needs to play wing because of his poor ability in the dot. I think the team will need to bring in a really good fourth line center who can take big draws. There's been numerous times this season where this team has needed a big key draw and lost it and it's cost them. A vet like Tomas Nosek makes sense.

They have to uprgrade over Henri Jokiharju. The Power pairing has been our worst 5 on 5 pair in terms of GA/60, Jokiharju gets caught sleeping in his own end regularly, he needs to have his minutes cut back. The team really needs to get Power a really good stabilizing veteran defenseman in the offseason to pair with. A guy like Scott Mayfield or Matt Roy comes to mind.

I think it's also dangerous to go into next season with Levi and UPL as the starting goalies when you have playoff aspirations. This team may need to carry three goalies next season, and bring in an experienced veteran to go with them.

Savoie will be interesting to see what they do, but I don't see a clear NHL path to significant playing time next season unless he really knocks your socks off in camp
