Pens are much better off just signing a goalie than giving up assets for Gibson imo

Hawks are not paying any value and in fact would want some value to take Granlund. Since being traded for over a 1/4 of a season he has produced at a 20 points a season pace and makes 5 million. Hawks can find plenty of 20 point guys for 5 million.....there are a bunch fans (and some of their GM's even) AGM to the Hawks with 2nd round picks every day on here.

I don't disagree in fact I would expect he would be with the Hawk who have no one else to give the PP time to. The problem is, they can give that PP time to Anthanasiou (or the equivilent of him and Domi last Summer UFA's ) for a fraction of the salary and not have to hope Granlund bounces back at 5 million.

Why give up assets (even going from end of the round to beginning of even round 4 and then pushing that pick back a year is also a give) to pay 5 million when you can pay someone 3 and end up with probably the same production (and someone easier to move at the trade deadline like Domi because the cap is also smaller)?

I'd be asking for a 1st just to take Granlund's contract. PIT is probably stuck either playing him, burying him, or buying him out.

There's definitely no elite goalies but neither is Gibson anymore anyways ya know. I just figure you can get an equal or better goalie for cheaper on the market and you're not giving up any assets
