Who is offering more than a mid 2023 1st? MTL can keep Dvorak and Allen no problem.

If WPG puts him on the market this summer, there will be a number of teams lined up, even if it's just to use him as a one full season rental. His cap hit would be in the $6M range again. A team like the Bruins would jump on a chance to extend their run into next season, esp if Bergeron and / or Krejci retire. There's a replacement #1 center who would thrive playing with guys like Pasta and Marchand.
The key is, he comes with cap certainty next year, and for contenders, that's a big plus, esp if they can add him for the full season.
The only caveat to the situation is if he's one of the attitude / heart issues in the Jets locker room.

I agree many teams would be interested in Dubois even as a 1 year rental. Would any of them offer more than a 2023 mid 1st?

Because all MTL has to do is beat the best rental offer for PLD. Not pay his full value.

I'd rather wait for a 2024 first if it meant getting more as that pick could even be better than Florida's. The 2023 isn't a world changing player and the hope he becomes an impact player that plays over 300 games is about maybe 50% depending on the definition of impact. Fact is jets take the best return regardless of draft but if trades are quite literally the same but different drafts we take the 2023 first. Would mtl trade their own 2024 first top ten protected for him? That's quite literally what the pick would need to be changed with if it's not the 2023 first

The problem is, it's a mid round first and 2 cap dumps to make room for the long term deals for Dubois & Caufield. There's more money per season going back to WPG than MTL, and both are signed for 2 more years. Dvorak is a less than half a point a game 3rd liner, and Allen is an oft injured back up goalie making over 3m while posting sub 900 SV% and plus 3.50 GAA. IMO most of that first round pick covers dumping those two players.

MTL can keep Dvorak and Allen. If Dvorak is included, it's because WPG need a middle 6 C. MTL wouldn't pay to dump cap they don't need for the next 2-3 years.

2023 17th overall pick is the best offer WPG would get for PLD. No other team is offering that. At best, they would get a late 1st like Boston or Avs.

FLA 1st will be 17th overall if they lose in the first two rounds of playoffs. I wouldn't mind keeping the 2023 17OA pick and give a 2024 1st between 11 and 16 instead.

The problem would be the condition if MTL 2024 1st is top 10. I don't think MTL would give their 2025 1st unprotected.

Looking at the Trouba trade in 2019, my guess is FLA 2023 1st and Beck are going to WPG for PLD. Same situation, close value.

Yeah the 2023 first beck works for me I'd ideally want one more lower teir prospect coming back as well. Doesn't need to be someone world breaking but someone that just puts it over the top you know. Someone along the lines of kostenko, mysak, kapanen, rohrer type guy.

A deal that I feel like works is Florida 2023 first, Beck, mysak and primeau (no long waiver exempt so I'm not sure if he clears or is the backup next year)
