In theory, swapping Cat for a cost controlled top 6 winger can definitely make sense. You free up the goalie money you need, and can replace a chunk of the lost offense from Cat.
I like Burakovsky as a player. But first of all, I think the gap from Cat to Bura is at least a 1st. Cat's "disappointing season" this year would be better than any season Burakovsky has had in his career. But the thing that kills this to me is health. Alex Debrincat is underratedly a very durable player, he just just doesn't miss games. I don't know how you justify moving a talented, healthy player for a significantly less good player who you know is almost certainly going to miss 15-30 games a year.
