The only issue is if you're eating that much cap for Petry the trade isn't worth it for the Pens. You're essentially paying Clifton 7.625mil - better off just keeping Petry

You know, it sounds crazy but watching some of those games down the stretch (Montreal, New Jersey) I’d have paid the 7M just to have him on the other team

It sounds crazy because it is crazy lol. I don't like the trade for him or his contract either - but in terms of performance the guy had a perfectly fine season
