The pens trade may be closer if one of the 2nds is turned into a 6th or 7th and Buffalo retains salary on Olofsson.

Not sure going after Klingberg after dumping Petry would be enough of an improvement to give up a second-round pick.

Think Jarry will probably want a bit more. With how much is being offered for Olofsson, Buff may retain some of his salary which could open up some space for either giving Jarry more or potentially free up room for another free agent or trade.

Yeah while Hextall was the gm. Just not sure if OEL is worth paying that much for four more years. Reminds me of trading for Petry and don't think the pens need another Petry.

Dream team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Once you get past pick ~50, pick values are almost identical, they are just lottery tickets at that point, so if you want Carter gone, you are either swapping a good pick for a less good one (such as Pitt 2023 1st for ANA 2023 2nd, moving down 19 spots), or you are just paying with a pick and not getting one back in return.
Pitt 1st for ANA 2nd is an overpay to dump Carter, I am aware, I was merely using it as an example to demonstrate difference in value.</div></div>
Good analysis to give perspective

The penguins accept the Boeser trade. POJ, Smith, Nylander, and a 2023 1st is too much of the future for the Penguins to give up with no retained salary on Miller's contract.

Yeah, I like the cap flexibility to give the option of an in-season move

The blueprint
I like the 2 mil in cap space leftover for flexibility and adding a bit to forward and defensive depth without giving up too much. Don't think this team would have a legit chance at making a run unless the third line fully blossomed so not sure if I love giving away POJ without really going all in for a cup.

This team would be much worse than last year. The only upgrades are shipping off Dumoulin and bringing in Mayfield and the third line might be even slower and worse than last year. This team isn’t even close to the playoffs.

I’m not sure Chicago is too worried about taking on 11 mil over 2 years. It’s not like they’re going to be building a team up to the cap limit and trying to make playoffs. They’re just gonna have at least 1 maybe 2 more years of tanking anyways so I don’t understand what the big deal of having granlund is.

At 800k after retaining. 10 points in 50 games on the basically ahl blackhawks isn’t horrible and avs have been known to be able to get players like that to produce. I’m completely open to other ideas to get Francouz but I don’t think it’s unrealistic considering how much work Colorado is going to have to do to build a forward group with their offseason situation.

How do they get worse? Do me a favor and look at Colorado's current forward group next year with only 19 mil in cap space. In my opinion, they could use a cheap depth forward and DeSmith could easily replace Francouz at that price.
