Karlsson stays Barabanov and Labanc flipped Clifton Engvall Raanta signed

Created by: pavelski_tip_in
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 29, 2023
Published: Apr. 29, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Gotta offer UFAs more term/higher AAV to come to San Jose. Don't want to commit to any bigger FA.

Sharks help Penguins dump some cap and acquire a cheaper winger with less term. Penguins send out next season's 1st in return. Sharks can flip Granlund at the 2025 trade deadline.

Capitals send back a 2nd and their #4 prospect (a RHD) for Barabanov (40 point scorer on a cheap contract).

Simek buried.

Not getting the 40th overall from Washington. Change it to a 2025 2nd and it’s fine

You know Granlund and LeBanc production are about the same. No way the Pens give up a first rounder for the exchange.

I think Barabanov is great but that's too much to give up for a rental before the season even starts -- look at their trade for brown last summer as a comp. 2025 second for barabonov

As a penguins fan, I disagree. I'll take LeBanc at 2.5 for one year over Granlund at 5M per for two more years. The reality is, Guentzel needs an extension & you're going to have to either buy Granlund out or use the first round pick to HOPEFULLY move on from him. Sharks would be doing the penguins a favor here. I'd jump at this opportunity.
