Jake Trade Destinations Ranked By Best Options

Completely disagree. This is a 40 goal scorer coming to your team with an extension for the duration of your window. The prospect you’re talking about is going to come to NA and likely spend atleast one full year in the AHL before trying to crack a lineup in the NHL AND MAYBE, with some LUCK, he might just be the next JAKE GUENTZEL in 5-7 years.

They're going to want a significant package to take a 2.5M contract over 2 years for a player who, while he isn't as good as he once was - scored 41 points last year?
I think ya'll are nuts lol. You don't get 2.5M retained + a "significant" package. The hawks are going to need help getting to the floor in each of the next three seasons and won't be a playoff bound team until likely, year 4 or 5 of bedard.
Hawk's fans are insane

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>How does that even begin to entice ANA to retain over 2M for 4 seasons to help one of their biggest rivals trade away an anchor contract?
Not even close to getting ANA to be on board :tearsofjoy</div></div>
It doesn't have to be Anaheim. It can be Chicago or Arizona - but getting a former 1st round pick who's just coming into his prime, on a cheap deal + a second round pick and a 7th round pick is more compensation than any of these teams will actually receive to be a third party lol.
EDIT: I'm not sure who you think Erik Karlsson is, but with the cap expecting to jump approx 10M in the next 2 seasons and having him literally JUST score 100 points as a defenseman on the worst team in hockey hardly qualifies his contract as "an anchor". He's just won the Norris lol - You're acting like he's awful, they're going to have to give up alot to get him.

To much for Hanifan. I'll do the picks without MP but if the flames want MP28 in that deal it's coming without a first round pick attached. Maybe MP28 and a 3rd, he's not that big of an upgrade at the position.

The penguins might have to move the 1st round pick to get rid of a contract, but that contract won't be the Granlund one. They'll almost certainly buy that out.

Maybe if St Louis takes Petry back in return, but there's just no reason for them to do so.

There is a negative 100 % chance that Chicago rejects that. They would jump on that like white on rice. They’re moving up in the draft, taking on a contract (like they said they would) and being compensated for it. You’re not moving up in the 1st round without parting with the 19th overall pick.

I wouldn't give Rutta away, but Petry is someone you should look to package with the 14OA pick to move on from his salary if you're bringing in Hanifin
I'm not giving Jake Guentzel up before I first explore trading Rust / Rakell <-- in that order. There is no need to trade Jake (or anyone from the top 6 except rust, who looked terrible last year for long stretches). They weren't the problem, their bottom six was a major issue, and while your bottom six looks alot better than the teams did last year, you've downgraded the top 6 and with 87 / 71 getting older, they need all the insulation they can get.

Wasn't it reported that the Hawks would be taking on contracts? I don't think you're going to get many teams dumping contracts + A level prospects. It's just not worth it these days.

Penguins decline. They're certainly not giving up Nylander who's their best bet at a cheap, productive bottom 6 forward and eating 2M of Granlunds cap space. They can buy him out for an 800k penalty this year and a 1.8M penalty over the next 3 years. That's manageable without taking back Timmons who they don't need.

Hawks will have zero problem hitting the cap floor. Easy, peasy... Here's the important thing for the Hawks: it's not about gaining a player who won't be around when they are competitive/relevant again for the Hawks, it's about gaining high draft picks and/or prospects who will be. Period, end of story. If we don't get as much as possible of THAT from a deal, then we likely won't make it. IMHO...</div></div>
The penguins will have 25M~ in cap space after the granlund butout.....They're not worried about "getting below the cap"

You want to send BOTH Granlund and Petry. I'm ok with that too. Let's just make it a 2nd rounder to PIT.</div></div>
As nice at that would be, there's no chance the Penguins are moving Petry and 14th overall to Chicago for a 2nd round pick. He's not a bust player, he's just net value and a luxury the Penguins can't afford.
Chicago will need help getting to the cap floor. Their either going to collect assets to do it, or be foolish and do it via the FA market by overspending and getting nothing for it.

Hawks fans need to realize that their team isn't going to contend for 3-5 years. They need to get to the cap floor. If they can move the 19th overall pick to get to the cap floor + move up in the draft, they're going to do it.

We are definitely less than 5 years away. Malkin's contract will be up in 3, Crosby's in 2, and Letang 5. And even if we re-sign them, which I'm sure we will re-sign Crosby, that doesn't mean they will contend the entire time. Completely unrealistic. We will be terrible in 2 years. Whether or not you want to rebuild we will be near the bottom of the league and getting high draft picks by then. 1-2 years left. 5 years from now Crosby will be 40, Malkin 42, and Letang 42. You really think we will still contend then?</div></div>
This team will remain competitive every single season that Sidney Crosby is still on the roster - if you think otherwise, you're an idiot.

Penguins realistic moves after Dubas hire
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>The old look how great my stuff is now give me your awful stuff for it.
If the Blues want goaltending depth it’s much easier to sign cheap vet depth like we did with Greiss last season. Hofer was signed to a one-way contract for a reason. There’s every intention of him getting a lot of ice time at the NHL level going forward.
Versus your passive aggressive used car salesman tactic for no reason as we have no say in what actually happens. I think that the Blues are happy with keeping Vrana after he scored on a 40 goal pace the second half of last season. I don’t believe he will score 40goals but he’s a very cheap effective point producer. Puolin hasn’t developed well, nor do we need forward prospects. This trade has no reasoning for STL and frankly if you remove Vrana there’s still no reason for the Blues to do it.</div></div>
He played 20 games.
The goaltending UFA market is not great this year, and the ones that are available aren't going to sign with a team who's likely to be at the bottom of the standings next year
I hope they don't trade him, he scores 70 next year and than walks for nothing next summer just so I can watch Blues fan's on the forum, who didn't even know who Vrana was 6 months ago, whine and complain about the fact that they didn't move him at the deadline.

Penguins realistic moves after Dubas hire
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tennisman142</b></div><div>Blues got him for a 7th because of his off ice problems. He played well for the blues and might even return to his former numbers. So there is no need to give him away for a backup goaltender when the blues already have Binnington and Hofer. Also Poulin is a formers first who is putting up pretty bad numbers. He is also 22 and hasn't shown anything promising in the NHL or even the AHL. He has little value to the blues when our own 2nd round pick from the same draft has better AHL and NHL numbers than Poulin does</div></div>
DeSmith would literally become the best goalie in their system, immediately. That's how bad the blues goaltending situation is.
Vrana is walking after his next season, and they will not get anything better than this deal for him. Multiple blues players went on a PDO bender near the deadline, including Vrana & Kapanen. There's a chance Vrana could be a solid bottom six / tweener, and there's a chance that he could absolutely flame out of the league and be more trouble than he's worth.
People acting like this is a bad deal have some weird perception of Binnington because he also went on a PDO heater in one playoff and won a cup. Guy is a sideway step from Matt Murray's current play.

Ty Smith is an RFA, he's almost certainly not getting a one way contract offer anyway.
Point about POJ is only valid if they send him down after the trade.
