Jake Trade Destinations Ranked By Best Options

Created by: edeangel84
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2024
Published: Mar. 2, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It appears Vancouver is really interested according to Marek, and that is my top destination for Jake. Rutherford and Allvin know Jake and the possibility of an extension to play there seems to be a real possibility. I also think Reilly Smith could end up there in a swap involving Mikheyev.

That Vancouver trade is too much. Take out Lekkerimakki and it's on par with your other values. Just don't see them giving him up at all.

I stated it’s only that much with extension.

The value of an extension isn't worth a top prospect though.

The Van trade is a bit too much. Remove Aman.
The Vegas trade is about right.
The Edmonton trade is a bit light, add Bourgault

The value of Guentzel is worth a lot. He is a top winger in the NHL

Since when isn’t a top 5 LW extended not worth a top prospect? That’s news to me

A negotiated extension is not worth a top prospect. The value for Vancouver is alot more than these other trades.

Yes that is true but Vancouver is paying a ton and according to the OP, the extension alone is worth a top prospect.

I can't speak for OP but Lekkerimaki + 1st + Hoglander is a fair price for Guentzel without an extension (IMO)

If he extends it’s more than worth it. The reporting from Vancouver indicates they feel there’s a real chance of extending him. https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/vancouver-canucks/latest-news/jake-guentzel-vancouver-canucks-pittsburgh-penguins-trade-deadline

So then it would be fair for the pens to trade a 1st, pickering, and blomqvist for Larkin ?

Completely disagree. This is a 40 goal scorer coming to your team with an extension for the duration of your window. The prospect you’re talking about is going to come to NA and likely spend atleast one full year in the AHL before trying to crack a lineup in the NHL AND MAYBE, with some LUCK, he might just be the next JAKE GUENTZEL in 5-7 years.

Van isn’t making that trade. It’s a huge overpay compared to the other deals. Hoglander is far better than any of the fringe NHL players in the other deals and Lekkerimaki is by far the best prospect of all the trades. I don’t think Van would include either one of them in a Guentzel trade. I think it would be something like Podkolzin, Raty, a 1st and maybe another small piece

Canucks aren't making that deal. Can't see them moving Hoglander with how good he's played this season, he'll be asked to take a step up next year and his bargain contract is a major asset to a cap strapped team. Lekkerimaki is also untouchable, any trade that starts with him ends there too. No team is giving up their top prospects for Guentzel, regardless of how many times Pens fans post it.

If he is signing an 8 year extension then you’re going to pay more in a trade.
