I assume Ottawa would want a player with a bit more term than Olofsson. It is the type of deal they will be looking for but I doubt they go for a pending UFA as one of the big pieces in the deal.

Not even close for Cat, Detroit beats that offer to bring him home. And he's not signing that contract. Probably closer to $8,750,000 x 8 years.

If this isn't even close, what would the Wings need to give up? 9th overall pick + + ? And if the Wings trades for Debrincat, why would he get more than Larkin?

The current Islander 18th pick is the best they'd get for Cat. Doubt Yzerman goes more than 8 x 8 on at yeah he's not getting more than Larkin. That will only be reserved for Mo Seider.
