Description
Disappointing loss for The Av's. A proven 2C would go a long way to helping out next year. The Flames have one of those that you're pretty familiar with.
He's pricy, but at $5M we're getting into a range where he looks like an attractive piece for the next few years in Colorado.
Fill out the pieces as necessary to make it work (picks, etc.). Would even be interested in Girard as part of a package. Would help make the salary work better, but what would it cost The Flames.
Interested in perspectives - I could be way off here.

My sense is they have to see what's going on with Landy and, to a lesser degree, Nichushkin. Then they have to decide which moves to make to improve the front end. They're going to have to decide what pieces to sacrifice, if any, to make those improvements because, the cap. As for this deal, I can't see the Avs doing it; they get no cap relief and would have Naz for another 6 years in his declining state. They didn't want to sign him at that price (even with retention) and term in the first place so it's just not a fit for them. They need someone considerably younger that has a lot of productive years ahead of them, not a guy in his mid-30's. Running it back with Naz sounds tempting but I can't see it being a good move.

Love Naz, abhor that contract even at $5M.

The Avs don't even consider it. You're stuck with Kadri.
