Habs aren't retaining $2.0m a year, for the next 4 years.

Anderson at $3.5m per is worth more than Lafreniere at this point. Say the later signs a 4 year contract at roughly $3.5m...add Anderson's retention, it's like paying Lafreniere $5.5m, while NYR would be getting Anderson at $3.5m. And Habs have to pay Ylonen on top. Nah, I'll pass.

I feel like MTL has no need for Laf when they already have Slaf who needs to develop. A Slaf for Laf trade makes some sense though.

Slaf is still on an ELC for 2 years, unlike Laf who needs a new deal which will carry a higher cap hit so the Rangers would likely prefer Slaf over Laf. The habs would only want Laf over Slaf if Gorton is more confident in Laf as a prospect than Slaf, which may not be the case because Laf has 3 NHL seasons while Slaf has untapped potential. So the habs would probably rather just keep Slaf instead of trade for Laf. Not to mention if the habs really wanted Laf they could just offersheet him and give up much less than Slaf.

I hope everyone has as much fun reading that as I did writing it.

Also- Slaf is still 6'3'' and 230 lbs - he can always become servicable in the bottom 6 in the worst case... Laffy outside of the top 6 doesn't do much.

like the idea of an offersheet. Even something small I doubt the Rags would match.

There's not a chance in hell that Hughes does this. Not with his track record.

Pretty pathetic offer for Alexis Lafreniere, Considering that Josh Anderson is way overpaid and sucks.
