Monster trade for Fantilli

Description
Ok so what if Verbeek really likes Mitchkov. And what if Kekailainen has enough faith in his roster construction ability to really overpay to move up a spot.

The trade would breakdown as one win for CLB and two wins for ANH:

2nd OA for 3rd OA and a 2nd rounder (CLB win)
Boqvist and Peake for a 2nd rounder (ANH win)
(The two 2nd rounders above cancel each other out)
Gibson for Merzlikins and a 1st rounder (I would say clear ANH win)

So Verbeek takes the extreme risky move (but loves it because in this dream scenario he loves Mitchkov and is a little meh on Fantilli… so not likely!) and Kekalainnen secures his job and his legacy grabbing the perfect C and future captain. I love this team especially if they can grab a L/T solution at RHS D. What a pipeline of D!

My preference is Parayko but Dumba is “free”

There's not enough difference between Fantilli and Carlsson to entice the Jackets to invest in any trade up scenario. They're going to get one of the two and both are going to be fantastic 1C caliber prospects.

The cost of trading up is the LA 2023 1st, no need for anything else to be in the deals besides a bit of window dressing to taste.

We'd likely take Carlson at 3 if we did the trade, two way impact player with size and IQ has Verbeek written all over it, only downside is he hasn't played the NA game yet.

How very reasonable of you! How much for sharks to move from 4th to 2nd?

It’s definitely a fair opinion to say Carlson and Fantilli are close enough that trade up packages are too expensive.

I totally disagree with that and am pretty sure Kekalainen would also. Especially if, in the case of this trade, he doesn’t really have to give up any core pieces and gets the best player in Jackets history in the deal.

There have been multiple scouts talking anonymously and they're split on Carlsson or Fantilli at 2nd OA. Both would be considered 1st OA picks by them in last year's draft. Trading up when you're already guaranteed one or the other just isn't worth it unless the price to move up is something miniscule like a couple picks in the 3rd round or later.

For all of the trade up scenarios people have been posting recently I think its important to remember that in the NHL teams rarely will trade back if they think they are trading out of a certain tier of player and when they do it's usually after all of what they think are the real top of the lineup prospects are gone. If a team has Michkov, Reinbacher, Dvorsky, Benson, and Moore in the same tier, they would probably be willing to trade back from say 6 to 9 but probably not 6 to 12. I think the top tiers for this draft are pretty clearly Bedard at 1 and Fantilli at 2. It gets tricky after that, as certain teams may have any combo of the 3 of Michkov, Carlsson, and Smith next. Either way, I feel like it would be pretty much impossible for CBJ to move up to 2 unless ANA really likes Carlsson or Michkov. Even though Carlsson, Michkov, and Smith all would've gone 1oa last year, I still feel like the consensus is that Fantilli is far enough ahead of them to make trading out of that spot pretty unthinkable for ANA
