That Flames Package is the equivalent of a 1st + FIVE 2nds and a 3rd + Roster Player (with Hanifin extended which is the best way for CGY to package him)

I don’t think Pending UFA Nylander retained and Abruzzese is worth all that when we can likely sign them for free next off-season or claim them off waivers

Hanifin + a 2nd to a 3rd team to retain for Nylander with TOR not retaining us all it should take since both are free agents

If TOR needs him and doesn’t want to lose him, they should re-sign him, but we already know he’s a difficult negotiation and he’ll be looking for $9mil/yr+

First off, waivers don't even come into the equation with either of those guys, and second, I'd you're evaluating Hanifins value as if he would be extended, then do the same for Nylander. That trade is horrible for Toronto

This deal would be good for both teams to be honest, gives the leafs a solid left side and shed some cap and get some draft capital back.

Nylander extended wasn’t proposed or is as realistic

Nylander is a difficult contract negotiation and the only way Hanifin gets moved at all is for a Premium either with an extension in place OR at the Deadline

CGY does have an abundance of LD’s atm and could use more Scoring, so if Hanifin is what it takes to bring in a PPG Top-6 RW under 28, than it’s definitely worth consideration, but the proposal here is pretty steep for CGY, especially without knowing Nylander’s intentions and future past next season

I don’t know that TOR really needs an LD either, unless they want to ship old man Giordano back to us as well

FLA seems to have more of a need and LD and both Reinhart or Duclair + ??? Could be Targets as well, especially for one of Hanifin or Kylington in exchange

The only reason Nylander would become a Free Agent is if TOR doesn’t or can’t re-sign for reasons such as Nylander wants too much or wants to test Free Agency

I don’t believe Nylander will be any cheaper to sign in any regard. He’s going to want Top Dollar, which is the reason I don’t see him staying in TOR

What’s being offered here is a guy you may be able to sign or have signed with an extension already as part of the Trade + some additional assets

Compare that and paying Hanifin $6.25-6.5mil/yr vs getting nothing at all and/or Nylander costing you $9mil/yr+

Which does TOR want/need more. Nobodies trying to get Nylander on a deal here. Hanifin is a quality D-man who is in high demand, as will be Vladar. Stromgren is a good Prospect and the Picks are decent. There’s nothing weak or garbage in that package at all

Would this be enough for Lindholm? Absolutely not, you guys would want a hell of a lot more. And Nylander is better than Lindholm

You like the rest of your anti leaf nation crowd want to see the Leafs burn more than you want your team to succeed. So you want Nylander to leave and you want to see him traded to you for cheap, because you know he's great, you know he will improve your team and you would like to see it happen in a slam dunk win for you.

I’m not Anti ANY Team, I’m simply pro CGY and realistic about what value makes sense to offer for a player who could just leave after 1 season

Nylander’s a Great Player, but he’s expensive, will be even more expensive next year and unlike Lindholm, doesn’t play Centre in the NHL. Everyone should know Centre’s hold more value, especially with a Cap Hit of just $4.85mil

Like I said before, re-sign Nylander or Trade him retained at the Deadline for more if you like, but you won’t get a premium for Nylander if you move him this off-season, he’s a Pending UFA, not an RFA under Team Control

He's going to resign in TO this summer and then all you fools will be sending out terrible offers for Marner until he resigns the next summer. Then we'll see what's next. Likely offering Tanev for Knies in 2 years because "it's fair"
