Understandable, just figured with MTL pick being an early 2nd, and essentially a late 1st, to add an additional early 3rd would add another prospect to your pool.

Yeah, but the Leafs issue hasn't been quantity but rather quality of prospects, which would help with the first round selection

Well, adding a Wings fan's perspective, I'd absolutely do this if Michkov was available at 5 and the feeling was that Russia wouldn't block him from coming stateside. Even if it isn't Michkov but rather someone else Yzerman wants, I'm fine with trading up. Now is the time to focus on blue chips for the Wings and trade up. I'd rather draft once at 5 than twice at 9 and 17 at this point.
