Haula deserves probably around 3.5 mil based on his production, pp, pk, leader, played well in the bottom six and also made jack Hughes play better when he was on a line with him. Haula gets 2.25 mil for 3 years also with a NTC bc he has been bounced around the league. His first interview as a devils over last summer, you could see Haula’s frustration with having to move his family every year. So he probably wants stability and would take less to know he’s in the same place for three years. Devils give him the NTC as it’s wel worth his AAV being less. These lines are not set as many could move around. This lineup gives us a lot of depth. Tatar get a one year deal. If he gets around 4-5 mil, he’ll get 2-3 years. This gives us cap flexibility next year as if we wanna resign him for summer 2024, it would probably be cheaper than 4-5 mil, and we won’t have to worry about term with an aging player. I hate putting him on the fourth line, but injuries happen and he’ll get bumped on the lineup when needed. Tatar will probably be one of the only devils that plays on every single line throughout the season. Also this 7 mil per 1 year signing doesn’t hurt the devils at all. They wouldn’t be spending that money elsewhere, and the cap hit goes away after this season. Why not bring back Tatar if we can afford it. Stetcher is signed if nemec isn’t ready.
