Next season maybe but the following season that could be a big 2M cap hit if Matthews re-signs.

That Toronto trade is something funny, other team will take on Murray without taking a decent prospect.

I'd hardly call Henrique a quality player (anymore), I'd rather keep the young Timmy and trade Murray to the Yotes with a pick for a bag of pucks...

Which will also increase Matthews contract. I expect superstars negotiate based more in cap percentage than other players.

Wouldn't that also apply to your team then? You seem to have paid Zegras and Terry what they are worth on a 3 year deal and not an 8 year deal.

No I paid them their worth vs the cap at the time of the deal. Also Matthews will be the first guy at the top of the league to sign with the significant cap raise. With the cap rise the individual player rises too.

Not with that term you didn't, you paid them their worth right now. They will easily argue their potential is worth far more than that. At least 8M on a long term deal.

Exactly how much of a raise do you think Matthews gets? Surely not more than 14. Mac will be making just under 15.1%. if the cap jumps to 87.5M the following year then 15.1% is ~13.2M. thats only a 1.56M increase on his current pay

I think he get $14M which with the Murray buyout takes up the $4M cap rise.

Zegras and Terry are probably 7-8M on long term deals.

Yeah that's quite unlikely, especially if he signs an extension. You real think he is worth 16%, he gpt 14.5% on his last one? The max I could see him getting is 13.4 simply because it has 34 in the cap hit.

Im willing to bet that both get at least 8M, probably more unless you bridge them

They're not both getting 8. The rumors surrounding Terry for a while have been he is asking for 7 AAV. Hughes, who was the top of Zegras draft class and has had more success on the scoreboard got 8, which puts Zegras below that. He's probably 7.75 give or take a bit.

Not enough for TK. I’ll break it down, first off TK is 100% bringing back a 1st to start if he gets moved, second off we have too many LHD so the prospect isn’t needed, third there probably needs to be another 2nd or 3rd in the deal on top of a different prospect. We need RHD or C not wingers goalies or LHD. If TK gets traded it will 100% be for an area of weakness in the org chart and for picks because they don’t need to move him

In all honesty it depends of if Matthews hits the open market or not. If he decides to stay with TOR they might get him around your 13.4M but if he hits the open market he’ll 14M.

But in all I still think the 2M buyout hit for Murray could be big for TOR because they’re still gonna be a cap team if Matthews stays. 2M is a rostered player.

As for Terry, 8 is just on the high side. Svech is just signed for 7.75M 9.5%, Cozens 7.1M 8.6%, Ehlers 6M 8%. Those guys are all around the same PPG as Terry so I’d expect him somewhere in that ~8.8% range.

Zegras is around the same PPG but he’s coming off his ELC so he’ll get a little more long term than Terry and/or more term because of the “still growing” aspect.

Svech, Cozens, and Ehlers all signed off their ELC's. Terry is going on to his 3rd contract. Your current best comparable is Kyrou and then Bratt for whatever he agrees to.

Zegras is more in line with Stutzle

Okay. And Terry is a hair short of their production so Kyrou at 9.85%, Terry at 9-9.5% is 7.5-7.9M. 8M is still the high side for him.

Their 5v5 production is nearly identical. In fact Terry's was slightly better this year. Either way thats a lot closer than your initial 7.25M
