Nothing, Laffy isn't being traded. If some team has to have him, they will have to overpay big time. You want to overpay?

Podkolzin would address a need, so he would make sense for the Rangers. Podkolzin plus 2023 1st round and 2024 1st round pick and you can have Laffy, and then all the Hab fans will bother Canuck fans from here to eternity.

It seems like the Rangers cap will be somewhat of an issue no? Chytl's pay raise. K'Andre must be looking at what 5 mil? Laffy prob gonna get what 3.5 on a bridge? Probably wont be back in for Tarasenko or Kane I'd assume. But not a lot of cap there.

How do you see it playing out?

In terms of value do you think Lafreniere is worth more than the 11th at this point? Are you still expecting him to be a top line winger or what's up with him why hasn't he been better and does he show signs he could get back on track?

Rangers fans seem to have an inflated sense of Laf's worth. The Canucks won't trade for him anyways.

If you read my posts, it clearly says any team would have to OVERPAY to get Laffy, so I never said this is what he is "worth". Reading is fundamental.

My first comment clearly says Laffy isn't being traded and any team that wants him will have to overpay to get him. Laffy (and Kakko and Chytil) were all misused by Gallant the last 2 years, playing bottom 6 minutes, with no PP time and getting shuffled around on different lines all the time. Hopefully a new coach will utilize them better and bring out more of their talents. In addition, relative to the cap, they are all still relatively cheap, so ZERO reason to trade any of them. Laffy will get a little more than Kakko got last year ($2.1m x 2) and Chytil got ($2.3m x 2) for his bridge deal, so I would expect Laffy will be $2.5 to $2.75 x 2 years. Miller is a different animal and it depends on if he gets 2 years, somewhere near $3.5 to $4m/year or a longer deal which all depends on number of years. I suspect Drury goes with a bridge deal because the cap is tight. Drury can also buy out Goodrow if it is absolutely necessary and picks up his entire cap hit for the next 2 years. So bottom line is Drury has the cap room for Laffy and Miller and then fill out the team best he can.

I'd say those numbers for Miller and Laffy are probably low. Not impossible but I'd guess they'll come in a fair bit higher. New coach might help though you're right.

Honest assessment. Do you think he'll ever be an allstar? top line winger? have you seen anything to suggest he might still?

Miller can very easily command 6 mil for 3 years

Its not that we have an over inflated sense of his worth.
Its that we actually see that he put up just shy of 40 pts while playing 3rd line minutes and almost no pp time.
at 5v5 while playing 15 minutes a game he put up 39 points. He was a top 50 LW with those numbers. Thats a top 6 winger. Who if you bridge, is now making 2-3 million.

He's got positive metrics across the board.
The biggest complaint is that he's not the fastest skater, which can be improved.

The rangers don't want to move on him because the odds are as soon as he isnt blocked, he's going to have a monster season. Ranger fans are hoping it'll be for the rangers, and so any trade proposal would need to be an overpayment.

I have no idea, he is 21. But he deserves a shot at top 6 minutes and then we will see.

He is a very good player. I don’t see why he wouldn’t get 6 mil. Dobson is a good comparable

According to Quant Hockey he was ranked 188th in even strength points per 60. That is not exactly awe-inspiring
