Addison Trade Comps

Description
Seen a lot of Addison trades going around and lots of valuations on the low end IMO. Comps for and Addison trade are below:

Romanov - 13 OA from NYI on draft day 22 (sent 98 OA back)
Lundkvist - 29-32 OA from DAL in 22 off-season
Sandin - 27 OA from WSH at 23 TDL (pick from BOS)
Bean - 44 OA from CBJ on draft day 21
Kunin - 37 OA and 70 OA from NSH on draft day 20 (sent 101 OA and Bonino back)
Vanacek - 37 OA and 70 OA from NJD on draft day 22

The Romanov trade was a Lou special and a very different player. That leaves a range of roughly 25-40 with picks closer to 40 also bring back a pick around 70. While Kunin and Vanacek aren’t positional comps, I do think they align with the type of “potential upside” that Addison holds.

I’d argue Addison has the best track record of the bunch so a late 1st isn’t unreasonable IMO. The Wild would likely be willing to add the VGK 2nd to bring back a 1st but I’ll work under the impression other teams want to hold those picks. I’ve proposed 2 options I think align with the above comps and align with team needs and asset volume. Lemme know what you think.

Much obliged. I didn’t think Barron was a PP guy.

He's working up to it. Still young.

We generally play 4 forwards and 1 D on the PP. Matheson on PP#1 and last year it was a mix of Barron or Xhekaj on PP#2.

Makes sense I guess. If you’re a believer in Hutson, you basically just need to keep the seat warm and it never hurt to have an extra guy you can pop in there.

I'm not against it. We also have Mailloux coming up who plays the PP on the London Knights in the OHL. Not sure how it will translate, but he's supposed to have all the tools, other than the hockey IQ which is a "work in progress".

I could see Addison and pick 22 to move up a few spots if there is someone the Wild really want. I think if someone really likes him they could use him to move up a few spots.

Otherwise he gets a 2nd and 4th rounder in different years. Look at teams that have multiple 2nd rounders this year like Chicago and Arizona.

I actually think the picks all need to be current year. And I don’t think ARI or CHI want to give up their top 40 pick, which is the important piece. If Arizona gets another 1st, I’d change my tune a bit. But I don’t see Chicago interested.

I would be elated if Addison could be flipped for one of the big, physical dmen that are supposed to be available early in the 2nd round this summer!

You do realize if we trade Addison the thing that will be missing from the prospect pool is a player like Addison, right?

I get that, but I just can’t stand the thought of having 3 small RHDs! I’ll figure something else out for the PP…

LOL. We will need to bring an offensive minded D into the fold at some point, but if swing 3 picks in the top 40 I want 3 Cs. Just load up and think about the backend later.

Other than possibly adding a big and physical RHD to the prospect pool, they should ONLY draft centers for the next 3-4 years!

Lol. The day they start drafting guys with that profile before the 3rd round is the day I lose faith in the rebuild.

Red Wings certainly not paying that much.

As a Wild fan, I hope Wings wouldn't pay that much. Wild would be lucky to get a 2nd for him

I’m not sure what you saying here…you don’t want big, physical dmen in the cupboard, or you don’t want them to focus on centers?

I don’t want the words “big” or “physical” to be selling points of any draft pick the Wild make. If they’re good players that happen to have those characteristics, fine. But if that’s what you lead off with, I’m out.

They better search high and low for skilled, mobile, big and physical RHDs then!

Better start picking top 10! But I would love a Hedman type.

That pretty much explains the 22 years of mediocrity we’ve suffered through…never bad enough to get very good!
