That's a tough one for the Kings, its good in the sense that it would help them now but could turn out to be bad considering Bjornfot is towards the end of his development and almost NHL ready. So idk how the Kings would decides this one. Good thinking on this one.

I agree with my esteemed colleague @Hckeydude123 that this is a close one, but I would do it. Oleksiak's cap hit is what I think we've budgeted to sign someone for that open #2LhD slot and he has term. The problem is that Oleksiak signed with Seattle on the condition that he get an absolute NTC for the first couple of seasons, and I don't know how much he'd be willing to waive it, particularly given the Kraken's success this year.

Nice work with this entire ACGM!

He has 1 year left on his contract. Not worth it. Gourde is also too old for the Canucks core

Not with our limited cap space... Gourde is not a long term option. Maybe if he was 25

McCann is the Kraken's top line LW and a 40 goal scorer in the prime of his career. He fits in perfectly with the team and their competitive timeline and I highly doubt he's going anywhere anytime soon. Gourde brings much more than just leadership to Seattle and trading him straight-up for a fringe NHL goalie actively makes the team worse. Oleksiak for his cap hit has been a reliable defenseman, so trading him for Björnfot doesn't help the team win either.

Long story short, I personally don't feel like any of these three trades help the Kraken or are deals they would make.

He definitely is. Not 7.5M worthy haha, but he is decent. I do like what you have done with this team though. Evans is ready to play top 4 minutes? He is good, but I haven’t seen too too much of him this season.

We were all pretty surprised when Kartye came up I think Evans will surprise a lot of you in training camp

Id Rather have Schenn or a different D man then Olek Plus with these trades we would have cap space to get a Top free agent and save room for Wright and Beniers

Fair enough on wanting a different defenseman in that spot, that's just a matter of preference.

I don't really see any rush to trade away good players just to open up cap space. I'm of the opinion that it is best to sign a free agent first and then figure out the cap later if need be. If the Kraken trade these guys and then fail to sign that top free agent, they would have made the roster worse for nothing. Besides, the free agent class this year is quite weak, so any superstar addition would come via trade anyway. After next season there are a number of contracts coming off the books (Eberle, Wennberg, Schultz, Driedger), so the Kraken will have ample cap space for extensions of Beniers, Tolvanen, and eventually Wright while still being able to round out the roster. Seattle's roster and cap situation are in good shape, I don't see a huge need to rock the boat just for the sake of doing so.

Could definitely, yes. Kartye did very well, and I will admit, I never expected him to do that well in the NHL.
