Description

Ok, Shanahan & Dubas had a power struggle and Shanahan fired Dubas & Spezza quit. MLSE could easily approach Dubas for Shanahan's job, then oust Shanahan. Dubas then promotes Brandon Pridham as GM, and rehires Spezza as special assistant to the GM. While I hear folks not liking Dubas, I think he's their best GM over the last 20 years. As much as I like Keefe maybe a Peter Laviollete (sp?) might be a replacement or Joel Quenville if ever allowed by the league. On to the ice. Trade Murray for cap space, extend Samsonov, Schenn, Acciari, O'Reilly, Kampf, trade Bunting & Robertson, and if possible Holl, Kerfoot, Aston-Reese, Simmonds, Gustafsson or let them walk. Offer Matthews $10M & Nylander at $8.5M @ 8 years each or let play out existing contracts & attempt to sign them in free agency. Current management turmoil makes it hard for a player to want to sign an extension. Let Muzzin retire on LTIR. Leaves $7M to explore free agency.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having Shanahan dismissed. But glad Dubas is gone. He was a poor GM. Average realists, poor contracts negotiatior, poor drafting, poor trades, barren prospects, traded good picks till the year 2026..
Why are so Leaf fans so worried if Matthews and Nylander aren't resigned.? A good GM will use that savings in cap and resign other players. Why would Matthews and Nylander to stay Leafs? Eight or nine year and winning one playoff round. They have earned to right to move on if they want.

Hawks decline. They are only interested in Murray if the Boston '23 1st is included in the deal. Keep Robertson. Murray and the Boston 1st for the Chicago '23 3rd.
