I would say Rathbone has no fit in Winnipeg either. If they don't accept Garland + 3rd for Lowry, then so be it. It's an overpay imo but a need. And the Jets really like Lowry.

Is Mayfield truly a top pair D? From the little I’ve seen of him, he does not seem to fit that mold. But I have seen very little of him.

What he is is a defensive minded dman who plays the right side and is fairly cheap. I think that is what we are looking for in a partner for Hughes.
