Is this mildly within reach or far off? Thought about conditional pick being 2025 1st and 3rd revert to 2025 2nd if both players do not sign in BUF

Sure, Adams is looking to move Olofsson but I don't believe that he needs to attach picks, especially first rounders, to find him a new home.

Not certain that Brannstrom is the answer to who needs to be paired with Power.

A better trade might just be Olofsson and Comrie (OTT doesn't have a goalie signed for 2023) for Debrincat. OTT has to fill 12 roster spots with only $17M so they are going to have to get creative.

Ottawa has Forsberg and Soggard signed to play nets. Think you forgot to take into consideration that Norris cap hit is taken into account in Capfriendly but he is not included as a roster/‘d player. They also have 7 RFA’s who should sign relatively cheap , lets say max 8.5 total. They also have Grieg , Javentie, Thomson, Kleven making under a million and on the non roster list. They have room , not a lot but they can make it work.

I should have added , I don’t think Comrie is the type of goalie they want to platoon with Forsberg.

Ottawa sees themselves as a potential playoff team next season, and so does Buffalo. I don’t think the two teams would make a trade to help out a division rival, even if they were also helping themselves. Trading rentals with each other is different, but trading high end prospects or young roster talent within the division doesn’t usually happen.

I felt the draft picks were necessary because if they were true RFA's the compensation would involve high end picks. In FA I would still sign a cheap and older RHD depth to pair with Power. Brannstrom I think is a defensive upgrade over Jokiharju whose contract is up after this season. With him, Sammuelsson, and Lybyshkin often injured having Defensive depth in a guy who fits the core age would only benefit.

I agree with this and I suppose that's why these are more fun than realistic. However, if they feel they will lose him as an RFA for less they could consider trading in the division. But it did make justifying trading future picks to a team with good depth already seem less likely.
