DRAFT RESULTS

8OA - Dalibor Dvorsky (C) [Long term investment in the middle. A solid two way center with top 6 upside]

40OA - Hunter Brzustewicz (RHD) [Great transition defender, can move the puck out of the defensive zone, and is mobile on the blue line on the powerplay]

43OA - Calan Lind (C/W) [Great play driver, not scared to get into the dirty areas and can play anywhere in the lineup]

SIGNINGS:

Drouin - 29pts in 58 games last season, could sign him for cheap to fill a 3rd line scoring role.

Sheary - Underrated season last year. Ideally, you'd want to bring him back.

Now the question that comes next is his value.

Coming off a down season, no doubt. I would however, take it with a grain of salt. Was a ppg last season, and I could defnintely see him bouncing back in a new atmosphere. Unfortunately, his down season will still hinder his value. The best time to move him, based on production, would have been last year.

TRADE: Detroit moves the last of their three seconds, the 43OA, and Filip Zadina for Kuznetsov.

Zadina would be a reclamation project, as he's yet to pan out for Detroit. On the other hand, Washington could play him on the wing somewhere in the middle 6 to try and get a spark out of him. I still think he's shown glimpses of potential. Look at Tolvanen, could just need a new environment and a new system to flourish.

  1. Kuznetsov, Evgeny

Alright. Elephant in the room.

He wants out. There are a few teams who I'm looking at that are going to be needing a top six center.

1. Boston - Ideal, could be good for them, but do they want two years of Kuzy? They are also in cap hell, and likely can't afford him. This trade doesn't work unless cap is retained and I doubt Washington is looking to do that... unless?

2. Colorado - Had some unfortunate injuries and weird circumstances this season (cough, cough, Nichuskin...) and are looking to bounce back. and they are ultimately going to be looking for a center. Unless they find a way to keep Compher? Even then... Colorado has space with Landeskog on LTIR missing the season. They have the assets to make a trade. Can Washington find a way to make it work without asking for Newhook in return?

3. Detroit - The Wings have a plethora of cap space, and I have heard from many Wings fans suggesting they wouldn't mind acquiring a 2C this offseason. With only two years left, Kuzy could be a stop gap for guys like Kasper.

3. Columbus - Not really ideal, they'd want a young-ish player with term.

Wings are going to pass, he's not the player Yzerman would try to acquire, especially after the whole vrana incident.
