Garland to DET

Created by: Skytown
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 30, 2023
Published: May 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sure Detroit would do this because of the depth they have on the right side, but I feel that it’s fair value for a player like Garland.

The Mayfield, and Rodriguez deals are the projected contracts done by Daily Faceoff.

Not for that price tbh. Most I'd give up is a 3rd. Hirose is a null asset to me so.

I don’t understand why Garlands value is so low. There’s rumblings in the market of a buyout if no one will take him. I think that’s asinine. I’m not a fancy stat guy, so maybe there’s a reason there, but he has had a 46 and 52 point seasons in Vancouver. I don’t get why people wouldn’t jump at the chance to get a 50pts mid 6 player like him for a 2nd.

As for Hirose… WOW! Didn’t look at his stats until now. I just added him because we have Akito lol. Couple nice AHL seasons. Is he a late bloomer, or is he simply a very good AHL player who for whatever reason just can’t make that jump to the NHL?

I think the biggest part that scares at least me was the issue with Vancouver at the start of the year where the whole team just stank. Obviously things have turned around, but that essentially cut sample size in half.

Hirose is interesting; he was 1st in the NCAA for points in 2018/19, and his AHL stuff is alright. Would like to see him this season under a decent coach. Not sure his deal, though.

I think he's a classic example of a AAAA player. He's a very good AHLer, but that step in skill is slightly bigger than his skill provides. He doesn't look totally out of place in the NHL or anything, but he doesn't really provide much at that level either
