I don’t think a single one of these trades makes the team better in the long or short run lol. Hayes has too much retention attached to him and Torts doesn’t like Roslovic so that trade wouldn’t happen as is. The TK trade is awful value we basically just give him away. Dallas, Boston, and Ottawa all definitely decline. Retaining $3M+ on Provy to only get a 1st back is brutal. I forgot there was a second Dallas deal, I also have no reason to believe that Dallas would have any interest in either of the deals. Also you underpaid York, Frost, and Cates for what they will get.

Is WPG retooling or are they looking to contend? Just asking cause not sure what the fan opinion is there. I think if they are looking to contend this is a great deal for WPG yeah you lose Lamber but this guy is basically gifting you TK lol.

Flyers will not be trading away youth like Frost to take on cap dumps, even if these dumps attach a pick. More else most of these dumps have some form of clause that they will surely upkeep to not be sent to a rebuilding team.

Honestly, WPG hasn't decided to my knowledge. They haven't made any moves yet and they haven't said anything. I believe a re-tool is what they want to do. They need to do the following: Trade / Get rid of Scheifele, Dubois and Wheeler. At minimum. Next is possibly trading Hellebuyck and maybe Kyle Connor. There is still a good solid core after that. So, if they trade most or all of what I listed for picks, then it's a rebuild / retool where they can move up some kids, etc. If they only trade a couple of those I listed, then re-tool that could bring back assets to keep going for it. But, in all of that, some assets like Lambert are NOT up for trade. Konecny would look great on the Jets and would be great for helping to mold the new kids. But Lambert is too steep of a price to pay for Konecny. Lambert is going to be a top 6 forward in the NHL who can play C and Wing, which makes him far more valuable to WPG.

while I would agree on the frost take for the most part, he’s not exactly beloved by torts so I could see him being shipped out

Lambert is magic beans. Who knows what you really have there. Plus wpg is basically getting one and a half firsts

Maybe, but Frost got quite a bit of playing time in the second half of the year. If Frost gets traded its gonna be for something big, but not this.

Torts quite literally praised him most of the second half of the season saying how he was purposely harder on him than most and he accepted the challenge and did well. Frost doesn’t seem to be on Torts’ hate list to my knowledge from everything I read and watch.

That’s fair. I’m just not sure WPG is able to get TK without giving up a piece like that or multiple 1sts. Not sure there is really a fit there tbh.

I could never get a read on torts liking frost. One game it seems he did the next not so much.

Hell I don't think most people can get a read on Torts, and I think that's one of the reasons I love him.

Oh yeah but i got the feeling that since he wasn’t singing frosts praises like he was for players like TK tippet and cates he doesn’t see frost as a long term piece like he does those others

I don't think Torts doesn't appreciate Frost. He did admit that Frost's old habits drove him crazy, but Frost fixed them and he got more time to shine for it. Maybe Frost won't be part of the long term, but I doubt he gets traded during this offseason if he isn't.

Hayes has a lot of retention but the flyers shouldn’t be near the cap ceiling till that’s over, Roslovic can be subbed out of that trade for something else. Lambert is a top prospect and wpg’s pick will be higher than floridas, Provy wants out and I’d say take what you can get. Both Dallas deals serve as glorified cap dumps for Dallas similar to good ol schenn for Lehtera and two firsts, gave all three short term “prove it type deals as I’m not sold on giving them longer deals after all of them had one good season. I would be very open to upping the money and term on York and Cates but I think lower term lower value contracts are more likely to happen

The fact that they can wrap him up in a bridge deal for cheap while they have the cap space to do so. Also rewarding a player for a good year and taking the ease of his mind of not having to play for ur next deal year after year. Torts already plays enough mind games with players especially young ones. Making Frost play for his next deal year after year wondering if it’s his last is a mind game they don’t need to play.
