Description

Dubois: 7.2 Mil Contract is just a qualifying offer. Only move I can see Habs making without Hutson.
Schmidt: Move him so Heinola gets playing time. Woll would get experience with Helle.
Schief could be moved at the deadline depending Jets situation. Ehlers, Connor & Perfetti are the future. Ehlers would be top 3 in minutes among fowards. World Championship showed what Ehlers could do.
With what Helle said I'd expect him to leave if the Jets don't make the second round and Schief is gone.
With this Roster going into 23-24 they multiple ways to go for 2024 off-season thats suppose to be high in talent and a lot of cap space to work with.

Would love to hear your explanation on why you think the habs would have any inclination whatsoever of making this trade. Just terrible

Take off Dach and Barron and Montreal would definitely consider PLD for that 5th, 1 for 1.

On a more serious note, Montreal says no, Dach has just had a breakout season, and looks like he will only improve from here. Barron is a young RHD which Montreal is severely lacking, no shot we're moving him. Instead go for the Florida first, maybe Dvorak and a lower prospect, this is a gross overestimation of PLD's value and the leverage that WIN has in trading him.

That kind of the opposite of what the leafs need, they have 6 NHL ready defenceman signed for this year, plus they could resign Schenn and move one of their active guys, what they need is goaltending, Murray will either be traded or walk after his contract is done, Woll is the next guy up to play backup for Samsonov. This trade really does just benefit Winnipeg

And no, PLD has not said he wants that, just his agent and every insider has made it clear that's what he wants. just because someone proposes a mock trade doesn't mean it makes sense, those are two immovable pieces for Montreal.

I didn't see Timmins. Just saw Muzzin and his injuries. Leafs could also do other moves for defense too. Samsonov is rfa so he will resign. They could also sign Helle next year to fix it.

You wanna know an even better deal? A young goalie who can probably give you 30 quality starts on a near league minimum cap hit for two more seasons. The Leafs can just sign a defenceman at or near Schmidt's level for $3 mill.

Youre blind if thats the only move you can see that Habs make without Hutson. Dubois isnt that good. Hes a high end 2C at best and hes a FA in 13 months. So unless a deal that doesnt involve anyone in the Habs future core then theyll wait to trade for his contract after the draft so they can get that 8th year for a 3rd rounder at most
