Awesome deal.

I think this AGM also shows just how much money the habs have to work with. Thats a full roster and only rhp and ylonen are noteworthy rfas (neither of whom will cost much.

With edmundson likely gone they will have a lot of dead contract money to throw around

As long as Bettman's incompetence doesnt skyrocket, which is still possible, but not likely.

I guess i view him as a mini Laine. One dimensional, a 35 goal 20 assist guy who doesn't help you when he isn't scoring

Caufield has like 48 goals in his last 83 games (this is from someone on Instagram sincr I'm too lazy to check myself).

He creates a lot of offense and he is a really good playmaker
If we could fire Burrows and have a nice PP, he would score way more

Laine had 80 goals as a teenager

Also caufield has 53 career goals in 123 career games, so no that's not true.

Didn't he have a horrendous stretch thanks to Bergevin and whoever?

Anyways, I don't see a Laine styled drop off in him, but even so i expect the cap to be increased more than his AAV is within the next 4-5 years.

The Thompson one was a huge bet by Kevin Adams that paid off - using his contract to literally anyone else's is foolish.

Caufield is 22 and has shown that he can hold his own barring a horrible coach.
Thompson was 24 almost 25 and only had about half of a season of good play before his contract.
