Why? Timmins is not the same type of player as Bortz. The only reliable player we have of that ilk is Bortz. He's a team leader. He rarely disappoints in his role. He's dirt cheap. He's not going to featch any sort of amazing return. There's nothing to be gained by moving Bortz just to move Bortz. Timmins is just a still young guy who is cheap and can skate and has a little skill, he might be a good guy to take Bortz's spot in 24-25, provided of course we had some more beef on the bone elsewhere in the top 6. He's like a more talented Santini who could be good to have around.

They have one reliable 3rd pairing RD and that's Bortz, who is also PK1. At this price, picking up Timmins to maybe succeed him/cover him when out is a decent notion. He is not capable of stepping straight into that role. There's nothing to be gained by moving Bortz to move him, and moving him immediately makes us worse in the one area we're trying to stabilize. He may be the oldest, but he's also the one who probably filled his role better than any of them apart from maybe Rosen. It's that simple.
