Not a bad framework for a TK deal, but i think the pieces coming back would be just for TK, Laughts is in there too. Would certainly need to add value here for both of them, especially with retention on TK for two years

This is BRUTALLLLLLLL for WPG. WPG loses their #18 pick, one of their top prospects in Lambert and Heinola for Nylander and a guy who is a 3rd liner with injuries.

Hmmmm... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WPG needs to keep getting younger. This does not help.

nah, COL's late 4th definitely drops out, at the very least.
retained Labanc is worth about a 3rd, so SJ is taking on cap dump 3.8mMurray+giving up 3rd just for the 28thOA
Kings just paid an absolute ransom to dump Cal Petersen. IMO SJ gets way more out of taking this dump in light of the trade that just happened

it could be but Peterson had 2-3 years left on his deal and was worse than Murray. Getting a first back for labanc + a cap dump is good for the sharks if the alternative is not getting that pick imo

You can buy out Lebanc for 800k. no need to retain 2.3M and get Iron man Murray back

Can't forget though, WPG isn't going to rebuild, they need to add players that fit this window. Nylander is certainly the best player in this deal and can be slotted immediately on in your top 6, probably on the top line. I understand losing assets like prospects and especially a first rounder in this draft, but you have to give to get, and the Jets FO is certainly not going to sit on their hands and wait for 3-4 years until these prospects can help the lineup.

Robertson also is still only 21, yes he has had some issues, but a change of scenery may be what he needs and if he does start to progress, then you just got someone who is still young who is going to contribute right away.

I could see the Jets thinking about this offer for sure. I could see them countering with their '24 or '25 pick as well.

I guess we will see what Chevytakestoomanydaysoff will do.

Thinking it depends on what offers he receives on guys like Scheifele, PLD and Helly.

I know after speaking with Morrissey yesterday that he and the rest of the Jets DO NOT want a rebuild.

Ya, I'm name dropping, but we spoke for about 20 minutes in person and he was very strong on that point, so you may be right about what they do.

I think you guys could also help your cap situation by looking for deals with Wheeler, if he isn't a part of your plan for this season. A trade had been bandied about of sending Ellis for Wheeler and some picks for taking the salary, so you could place Ellis on LTIR and get all that cap space. You may also lose PLD so that's a lot of money coming off the books, enough to make some intriguing offers or even to add via trade.

Again, it makes it difficult with WPG because they aren't rebuilding, so assets that are valuable to them may be more valuable elsewhere, and they should be looking for those deals if they make sense.

Retention spots are limited and gold. Dont want to tie it up on Lebanc

he only has one year left on his deal and we would be getting a 1st round pick out of it, seems worth it
