Ok, some of the Kuzy trades today have been wildly unfair to Colorado, but this isn't great for us. We don't need a defenseman unless we give one up, and I would put money down on the Caps not retaining more than 2 mil on Kuzy's contract.

Maybe if another team was the one eating his contract then it could work, but again, we have our top 6 D for next year pretty much locked.

I think Caps don't go much higher than $1.5M in retention on Kuzy. Beyond that, it doesn't seem to smart for them unless they get a haul back.

I do like the thought of adding Mikkola, but I'd rather pair him with someone like Hunt who we don't have to re-up on. That said, if EJ comes back at that amount and stays relatively healthy, I have no complaints.
