Konecny Barbashev

Created by: capsfan819
Team: 2023-24 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2023
Published: Jun. 8, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We start with a Mantha buyout so that the Caps do not have to give up any picks/prospects to eat his contract. We then trade Kuzy to the Avs who are looking for a top six forward with Landeskog out. I think this trade is fair for both teams. The Caps then flip the Avs first along with McMichael and two fourths for Konency and Seeler. Konecny adds top six scoring while Seeler is a legit 6th/7th d-man who can fight. Realistically, you might have to add another prospect in the trade to get Konecny. Adding Barbashev gives you grit and scoring in the top six. Dowd gets moved to the 3C. Acciari, Malenstyn, and Aube Kubel make up a very physical fourth line. My only concern with this team is Backstrom as the 2C. He is more of a 3C, but hopefully having guys on the wing such as Wilson, Barbashev, and Konecny can help elevate his play.

I like the ideas, I would play around with the lines differently.

I am hesitant to move McMichael I think he is ready to join the Caps and they need him, Lapierre is a year or 2 out I would like to move him instead.

Barbashev and Wilson on a line...have fun going against that.

I think this is interesting but I would still decline if I were the flyers.

I would counter with

TK
Seeler

for

McMichael
'23 1st (COL)
'23 2nd

TK alone is worth a prospect a 1st and a 2nd, adding Seeler to the mix who is probably worth a 4th alone, would be fair due to the caps pick in the 2nd being number 40 I believe.

If not, I would gladly look for other offers fitting this mold

You forgot Protas in my opinion. He is a roster lock.

Would you do for McMichael and the 2 '23 picks? It's intriguing for sure.

Intriguing yes but for a division rival probably not

I just don't see McMichael being anything more than a 3C. I think that is his ceiling. LaPierre on the other hand I can see being a solid top six center

Another guy who they could look to trade for with a similar trade package is Schmaltz out in Arizona

In this scenario he would start in the AHL to get top six playing time. They are tight against the cap so when a forward goes on LTIR he would be the top call up candidate

I would rather have him over Beck, He has shown he is ready for the league and he is waiver eligible now so he wouldn't be a good option to be a call up candidate.

Keep the 4th and change it to the '24 1st and the Avs should accept.

I think McMichael has a good 2C career in him, honestly like Strome. I have been following the Hershey run and have been to a few games - I have said this a few times McMichael looks like a crafty vet out there dominating faceoffs, amazing control and passes, on the PP and PK I have been impressed with him. Lapierre is sooo underwhelming, he disappears often, I know he is younger less developed I just see a player like Johannson a former 1st with not trade value now, don't let that happen to Lapierre
