Description
Just wanted to see what nashville would look like.

I moved novak to wing to get him out of the faceoff dot and take some defensive responsibility off of him.

Joey to 4C due to lack of foot speed mainky but between him and Sissons at the dot , they can shoulder a heavy defensive zone start load.

Interesting mix of speed and skill. Could be pretty decent. If kemell continues to impress at the start if next year, sherwood can be sent down and start kemell on the 3rd line rw

Hard pass. Last thing we need is to bring in more cap for someone older and not as good

Duchene > Kuzy and it's not particularly close. Kuzy fell off a map and is playing at a shell of what he used to be. Duchene at least scored 40 last season and is good for 60+ points.

Nashville needs centers, but we need ones who can actually play defense.

I disagree. Duchene fell off even more than Kuzy last season.

Duchene has had one good season in the last 5. Kuzy definitely declined last season but Duchene declined more lol and kuzy is younger.

Kuzy will 100% out produce duchene next season, over the next 3 and over the next 5

As far as Kuzy not being a fit I can’t argue that

In terms of defense, i see it as exchanging Novaks inept defensive skills for Kuzy at C. So basically a wash at center. Parssinen, Joey, and Sissons can all be good defensively. I cant recall glass but i dont think he was too bad.

Kuzy 214 pts over last 264 games (0.81 pts/game)
Duchene 197 pts over last 249 games (0.79 pts/game)

Difference in Offensive contributions over past 4 seasons is negligible and age difference is about 1.3 years so it isnt like he is vastly older.

Duchene is overpayed but he still produces. And isn't completely inept defensively. I am 100% not opposed to moving him at all, but for Kuzy? I'd pass.

Kuznetsov:
2021: 24g, 78pts, +7 (79gp)
2022: 12g, 55pts, -28 (81gp)

Duchene:
2021: 43g, 82pts, +6 (78gp)
2022: 22g, 56pts, +4 (71gp)

Let's be a bit more objective here,

I see it as a gamble for sure and could fo either way with keeping or moving duchene. He hasnt been bad but we have alot of wing prospects so i personally think a center like kuzy could make the team stronger overall.

Interesting that they both basically had a 30% reduction in point generation. Duchene was slightly worse but he also played 10 less games than kuzy this season so likely really breaking it down duchene has a slightly lesser dip in terms of points/game played year over year.

If we're looking at an upgrade down the middle, I'd make a pitch on PLD and hope we're on of the teams he's sign long term with.

Move the 24OA and one of our B tier prospects (maybe L'Heureax) and see if that gets him. Give him an 8x8 and that's it. Kuznetsov would just walk in a year once he realizes we're in retool. At least PLD is still young and could be patient.

It’s fair to say you don’t want Kuzy, but they are similar and kuzy has more upside, is cheaper and is a bit younger. All objective.

He is terrible on D no doubt

More upside? Both are on the wrong side of 30 and regressing. I don't know if I'd call that objective. Kuzy might be better for a team because he's a rental, but he still may ask for a big pay in FA.

That’s fair, that wasn’t totally objective. Kuzy has two years left and I’d assume the caps will have to retain. Unless he bounces back i doubt he gets a decent payday when his deal is up

Objectively, they're pretty much the exact same player lol.

Kindof amazing honestly. Id give the edge in performance to duchene but kuzy has a slightly more favorable contract and plays center whereas duchene moonlights at center but is better defensively.
