This team is not a cup contender, however it should be able to compete for a playoff spot.

You’re overpaying for Fabbro right there. I’d value Raty over him any day. He’s a solid second pairing RD with a some offensive upside, but he is not worth moving a great C prospect and dropping 4 spots in the draft for

I appreciate the insight. I would personally do a straight trade of Raty for Fabbro. Reason is, this team has committed to the now (personally I think they did this prematurely), and Fabbro provides a cost effective RD who's age fits with the teams core and fills a current need.

I'm still of the view that there's zero reason for Anaheim to solve your cap issues for little to no return, regardless of whether the bonus is paid or not. They're not in a position where it'll be a struggle to hit the floor.

I mean I see and have thought of your point, teams have leverage over Vancouver due to their cap situation no arguing that. I do think once the signing bonus is paid it's a contract that will be attractive to some teams, especially if there are teams trying to cut costs while making the cap floor or teams looking for a cheap asset they can flip at the deadline for additional assets. Be interesting to see how it plays out, that said I wouldn't be opposed to upping the pick to a 3rd, wouldn't go higher than a third though.
