No because as long as we have Nylander on the team we will never win. All the talent in the world but he will never mess his hair up enough to battle in the playoffs like we need. If I’m Treliving that’s the first trade I make is him for a top 6 winger with size, speed and grit.

Doubt you’d get those players for those prices but assuming you could:
1/ Dump patches, he’s coming off brutal injury and reinjury , too much risk (plus I hate all former habs)
2/ Acciari can’t play 3C, he moves to 4th line; love Willy at 3W to spread the wealth, Jarnkrok moves to other 3W
3/ maybe run a 21 man roster, meaning you need to find 3C for $2.5M USD. Maybe take a flier on Sean Monaghan?

I get the vibes you’re a millennial. Nylander is as soft as fresh wool. It’s always funny seeing people comment who are point humpers. Can he score? Yep. Can he skate? When there’s a chance for a breakaway yep. Does he float? Every chance he gets. Does he shy away from the play when there’s any chance he may get his hair messed up? Yes.
People who understand hockey know there’s a difference between guys who get you to the playoffs and guys who get you the cup. Nylander will never be the guy who gets you the cup.

Not a bad idea. I don’t see much risk with patts. He either plays or he’s on LTIR. If he’s not good we can just bury him, but I’d doubt that he wouldn’t be productive he could get healthy-ish. Acciari 3C would def be a weakness. Was thinking if he played between an elite winger and another solid player that can drive play, then it could workout. Maybe Keefe experiments a bit w/ Willy at 3C. Wouldn’t hurt to try it out.

Maybe we’re of the same age; I don’t remember guy Lafleur or Mike bossy battling. Teams need different types of players to succeed, and the hardest kind to find are elite goal scorers. Is he frustrating - yeah, does he disappear sometimes - yeah but Willy is a legit game breaker and he shows up in the playoffs tied for 2nd in goals & 4th in points . You need to chill - you are giving us mature fans a bad name

If you truly think nylander has as much toughness and grit as Bossy or Lafleur then you need to give your head a shake. My 90 year old grandma could beat Willy up. Every knowledgeable fan of the Leafs knows they have enough soft skill and not enough grit. Willy can be dealt to fill a lot of holes and he is not someone who’s ever going to sacrifice for the team. Those are guys I don’t want. If you do that’s your prerogative but others are allowed to disagree and have opinions about guys that don’t line up with yours. If you can’t handle it then go talk to someone so you can feel better about yourself.
