As a contender the Avs are highly unlikely to be in on Debrincat and far more likely to be in on PLD if he gives any indication that he will sign long term.

Ranta has just signed 2 years in Sweden so I'm not sure why the Jets would have interest there. If PLD went for a sign and trade I could see the Avs looking at him. Otherwise they should steer well clear even at that comparatively low cost.

The fact that this is the second time he's shown himself to be a malcontent and asked for a trade should set alarm bells ringing for every team. Even Montreal. What happens if/when he gets tired of Quebec or can't handle the glare of the spotlight in French Canada? I know Montreal is still waiting for their first 'French' superstar since...Lafleur most probably? But even for them he's a risk. I'd say he comes with a major buyer beware tag.

That people in MTL don't hope he signs there, and that he doesn't develop into the next Habs legend, 'cos that's all we ever see from Quebec. Drouin was once going to be it and look how that turned out! So no I don't think the Anglosphere gets anything wrong. French Canada needs to temper its expectations.
