random thoughts

#1-Pens Acquire a #1LHD (Travis Sahheim)
Pens get a slightly retained sanheim for 5M for a 1st, top d prospect pickering, and phi also takes granlund's contract bc it's obvious they aren't going anywhere but down any time soon...

#2-Pens Need a new #3C (Ryan O'Reilly)
Pit needs someone who can play #2C in a pinch with the age and injury history of 87 and 71. It would be even better if said 3C was a great 2 way player, could play special teams, and wasn't 35+ years old. I can see Rodrigues, compher, haula, etc as interesting FA option. through trade there is no shortage of possibilities and dubas is extremely creative so I can't even imagine all the possibilities with that. on the other hand, dubas has a history of acquiring players he knew/had previously in some way. here's wondering if his 2nd NHL franchise will have a steady dose of players from his 1st.

#3-the Goalie situation
Here's hoping Tristan Jarry is not asking Pit for a 6x6M contract but if he wants anything near that then I look for a sign & trade to hopefully not lose him for nothing to FA. Adin Hill was my preferred choice but as he's been amazing for Vegas I expect someone to give him a enormous raise... either a contract like Alex Njdelkovic (spelling) (3-4 years, $4.5M) or the high end being jack Campbells Edmonton contract of around 5x5.
I would love to grab hellebyuck (sp) or Saros but the ask is said to be enormous and I would rather have two goalies in a rotation then one hopefully good starter. Dubas has always had goaltending depth, while having some bad injury luck. I look for him to get one in FA and one in trade while seeing what is out there for jarry/desmith. I think if he gets a tandem then he might even stash desmith at WBS as he only costs 600-700K while there...
as far as trading jarry I was thinking of teams with younger rosters looking to compete in a year or two such as Ottawa, buffalo, Montreal, Columbus, etc.

#4-buyout Jeff Carter. if you can't trade him, don't let him waste a roster spot.

I also think dubas will try to move petry but I'm almost out of ideas for where he could be moved tbh...

Uh, not going to give you two 4ths for Jarry UFA rights. There's no more "sign and trade", too late now, it's UFA season in 3 weeks

And IF Formenton name was cleared up to play in the NHL again, he'd have a lot more value than this

I like the UFA names overall.

But very much don't like the Arizona trade or the idea of having Vejmelka as a starter. Also, Carter's buyout saves no money so might as well just leave him on the roster.

I was just clearing the roster spot so sully can’t play him lol
Vejmelka and Korpisalo would be a tandem like a strict rotation

Lol fair enough.

Still scares me a little giving up assets for him and having him play 40+ games - but all good.
