Lol I called last season Vancouver didn't bite, it doesn't work anymore not for Nylander maybe throw in boeser full price and a pick well still I don't want Myers, buy him out like I'm trying to do with Brodie.

Good one tho..

Well you could argue that Nylander and Toffelli are equal, both upcoming UFAs But the Leafs shouldn't trading the cost efficient and years of control of the good Liljegren for one year Tanev

Lilegren vs tanev is not even close and especially for the playoffs regardless of contracts

I think Nylander is more equal to Toffoli and Bertuzzi combined but as for the makeup of a team I like it better with the Tylers combination.

Definitely not wise to make yourself older and slower if you want to win. This is a bad deal for TO. Toffoli is a good player but he had an outlier season, Nylander is still getting better and is a few years younger. Always take the better player, if he's younger, it's a no brainer.

I like Tanev and would love him as a deadline addition or even for the whole season but at this stage of his career, he's not going to fetch as much as Calgary fans want on here. A 1st if he's playing pretty good and has been healthy. If he's been hurt a couple of times or Calgary flounders a little and he'll cost much less. Could be a risky but cheaper price down the road. Giving up Nylander for a risky RD with a long list of injuries and a worse winger who's 4 years older. It's incredible how people seem to forget that players can fall off a cliff in their 30's. Neal, Lucic, Bailey, Perry etc etc. Effective players who lose a step in their 30's, (it happens to everyone eventually) and fall off a cliff. Nylander still has more growth in him. You don't trade that for a couple of old guys who's best days are likely behind them.

You're right, rather have Nylander, though I like the cap difference. Don't know why so many love the high priced Calgary Dman but hate the Leafs Dme.n . Not saying it would have made any difference in the playoffs, but Liljegren should have been playing regularly, not Holl or McCabe.

The 4 year difference in age between Nylander and Toffoli certainly doesn't make them equal. Add in Nylander being the superior player by a rather large margin with still room to grow and it's really lobsided between Nylander and Toffoli. The trade is not good for TO.

Possibly but why not just make the cap work with Nylander and Bertuzzi. That's a hell of a lot better than Toffoli.

Nylander is better than Toffoli, Liljegren has more value than Tanev. Robertson is a massive question mark and doesn't come close to evening out the value here.
